Random thoughts on living for something more. For those of you who had the wild-hair idea to press the. Tab, please be prepared to be horribly disappointed. This will likely be a place where the not-good-enough-for-a-real-blog-post writing ends up. For one reason or another, the creative juices flow through my fingers while typing. I know that sounds odd while at the same time a bum deal for my computer…creative juices…computers and liquids…don’t mix…. June 12, 2009 at 10:59 am. Real quickly, a few thoug...

Random thoughts on living for something more. July 1, 2012. Our world is becoming that is increasingly difficult to survive in. Now, I realize I live in one of the most privileged countries in the world. By the simple fact that I own a vehicle means that I’ve joined the ranks of the top 1% of the world’s population. Here’s the thing. My family has. Also, religion is not something worth making war over. We have certain beliefs, but we found that to live more peacefully and holistically, gleaning wisdo...

Random thoughts on living for something more. May 26, 2012. For the past several weeks, a thought has been haunting me. Where has my creativity gone? To put it another way, why does it seem so difficult, as an adult, to use my imagination? I want to be more creative in my economics, my art, my parenting, my marriage. Who the hell said the best response in any given situation is to default back to what’s easy? What are we afraid of? Why do we setter for mediocre? I know I don’t want to wake up in 60...

Random thoughts on living for something more. May 12, 2012. Have you ever wondered why it’s almost assumed that part of being human is violently defending your own position on a matter, cause religious or political view? Why is it that we have this innate sense that our primary purpose in life is to prove everyone else wrong? Does that make me feel better about myself? What possible benefits are there for, not only the whole of humanity, but this entire planet and everything therein? How can you engage i...

A New Name | Living for Love

Exploring compassion, social justice and life where everything is spiritual. January 26, 2010. It may seem a bit silly and even a bit moot, but I’ve decided to move my blog to be hosted under another name. There are several reasons for doing so, far to complicated to explain at the moment (as complicated as blogging really is…), so I’ll postpone that discussion. I hope you take the time to participate in the conversation, journey with me and enjoy what life has to offer! Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Gandh...

Exploring compassion, social justice and life where everything is spiritual. March 8, 2010. As I begin this post, I must admit that in many ways I’m just playing with words, manipulating them to make my point. But the thing is, isn’t that what we do? I mean, words are probably one of the most essential tools we’ve got to express ourselves. With that short intro, I want to ask a question, or statement, whichever comes out…. And yes, I can hear the arguments:. Hogwash by the way). The books of Acts is clea...

Between the Mountains and the Sea | a personal Odyssey
Between the Mountains and the Sea. Caveat Emptor OR Fuck you, Spirit Airlines. As promised, a rant. I used to be a loyal Southwest customer. They had friendly skies and my bags flew free. Awesome. However, with increased fuel prices and just the inflation of fucking everything, even Southwest’s prices started creeping into unfriendly territory. I’ve never flown Spirit before. I did not know the price I would ultimately pay for my cheap flight. I did not do my research and did not spend a lo...A seat, eve...

Mountains and Things
Monday, May 14, 2012. The beginning of our summit attempt began with three days of acclimating at Whitney Portal Campground at 8,000 feet. The campground is cradled in between huge, imposing granite walls. It is at the campground where I caught my first close-up glimpse of the sawtoothed giant towering 6,000 feet above me. As we descended back down to about 9,000 feet, my spirits improved dramatically. I was soon leading the way back down at break neck pace just shy of a jog. By around 6:00 pm, 1...

Mountains and Valleys | Family road trip adventures through our National Parks.
Family road trip adventures through our National Parks. Muddying it Up in Big Bend National Park. February 25, 2015. I’ve been organizing some old photos from our 2011 trip to the National Parks in the Southwest. One of the great surprises of this trip was Big Bend National Park. It may be a one of the lessor-known parks, but we loved everything about it… the smells, the silence, the window views, the wide-open spaces, the hot springs, and of course, the one and only, Ranger Dan. But what we loved most?
