The first scene of The Kid. Is a woman leaving a charity hospital with a child. As the nurse and doctor watch her leave with a mixture of pity and disapproval, a title card appears: "The Woman - whose sin was motherhood.". Ah, thanks Charlie. Weighed down by the cross. "See, she must bear the burden of her sin!

Reason for Ignorance: Never heard of it. Based on this and Ninotchka. I believe I understood the Ernst Lubitsch. Germany's occupation of Poland, the Polish resistance, and the threat of concentration camps are the basis of an absurd and very, very funny farce. The star of To Be or Not to Be. Nor does he offer the rugged charms of Gable.
