Kill the userspace? | 18 and Life
https://murmuria.wordpress.com/2009/08/29/kill-the-userspace
August 29, 2009. I earlier wrote about the future of web browsers. Today I was thinking about ideas for an OS project for a friend and I arrived at my earlier ideas starting from a different direction. I have been involved in this project called Glendix. Would it kill the userspace? Is this just a different way of looking at things, of have I really offered to cut a layer here? Web browsers in 2012: Ubiquitous or Clandestine? | 18 and Life
https://murmuria.wordpress.com/2008/11/30/web-browsers-in-2012
Web browsers in 2012: Ubiquitous or Clandestine? November 30, 2008. Web browsers are the first thing people think of when we mention the internet. It somehow reminds me of the days of Windows 3.1 on my first ever computer (a 1995 486DX2). The first thing that anyone did when the computer had boot was fire up the Program Manager. I might take this opportunity to debate the validity of this comparison as non-fiction, or… lets dream a dream that many brilliant minds have already dreamed. Its a way to quickl...

https://murmuria.wordpress.com/2009/02/10/2009-already-an-obama-term-away-from-dec-2012
An Obama-term away from Dec 2012! February 10, 2009. It seems weird that this is the last year I can write dates like 2-9-9. It was fun while it lasted, but it seems we are into the last single digit year of our life! It feels so much more close to 2012 – the year marked by many to mean. Whether we really do witness the doomsday; or the return of a Planet X; or a global awakening to psychic connection aided by the return of. The completely dumb concept of credit history (see Q26 FAQ. Web browsers in 2012: Ubiquitous or Clandestine? An Obama-term away from Dec 2012! December 7, 2008. Test earlier (based upon Myers-Briggs/Jung typology), but did not really understand some of the questions correctly then. The result I got was vague. I took it again and check this out. People are usually impressed by my off-beat methods. Only, what I need to do is increase the frequency of that happening. Read more about INTP here. Incidentally I am a Leo. PS My friends Anant Narayanan. More feelings tha...

As if it wasn’t enough that they do not let anyone buy a postpaid connection without credit history and SSN, they had to fleece me on prepaid! The cost of books is also astonishing here! Where to hook onto the tcp stack? « /net in Linux: project log
https://slashnet.wordpress.com/2009/04/20/where-to-hook-onto-the-tcp-stack
Net in Linux: project log. Where to hook onto the tcp stack? I recently discussed with a diagram. I was recommended to look at ksocket. Current issue that needs solving: If I dont have sock- sk element, because I dont use a socket to represent a connection, but use a folder /net/tcp/n , then how to I associate the sk structure with it? Struct file has no sk element like struct socket does…. April 20, 2009. Posted by Rahul Murmuria. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. When UNIX was origin...
“fsnet_create” a good plan? « /net in Linux: project log

Net in Linux: project log. 8220;fsnet create” a good plan? I think I have found my footing. Here is a design diagram. I am considering creating a fsnet which is more or less equivalent to inet – and perhaps even borrows / wraps some code – except that it provides functions to the libfs based netfs implementation program. The inet function in question can be found at net/ipv4/af inet.c. March 25, 2009. Posted by Rahul Murmuria. 1 Comment ». 8230;] to hook onto the tcp stack? April 20, 2009 Reply. To the w...

Net in Linux: project log. DNS: A hard to crack nut! Apparently, Linux kernel does not seem to have a DNS resolver! The fundtion gethostbyname() first checks /etc/hosts and if no entries are found, it makes a direct socket connection with the ip address given in resolv.conf and fetches the DNS resolved ip address! Net in Linux: project log. I was poking around for what it would take to get there. I found this. I am basically looking to have a way to do routing using Glendix. You can already do that on any standard Linux using Quagga (see http:/ www.quagga.net/docs/quagga.html#SEC3. They use a traditional dynamic library approach with architecture specific code. UPDATE (May 03, 2009): Further discussion of this idea led to me applying to GSoC 2009 with this proposal. March 19, 2009. Posted by Rahul Murmuria. Fill i...

March 11, 2009. So a friend of mine has recently got involved with a Unreal Tournament 3 Mod. It is called Project:White. They have some interesting additions, like 3rd person play. And Cover and Peeking. They are building upon new game mode ideas like terrotorial and PUSH which are both centered around Dawn of War and Battlefield 1942 style capture of “control points”. Catch them on their Developer Site at Whitemod. I think a good extension to this could be a “World of White”? February 10, 2009. Whether...

What I've learned. 5 Things About the Apple Watch After Wearing it Three Weeks. Having pre-ordered the Apple Watch but not expecting it to arrive until mid-June, I was pleasantly surprised to see it drop on my doorstep the day after launch. It’d be pretty irresponsible to write a review of the device after only a few hours or even days, so I sat on my thoughts and decided to see what my long-term experience has been. Here’s what I’ve figured out after about three weeks of wearing it. Over the course of t...
