Here I will try and keep up to date the my progress on the design of this board game. Friday, February 22, 2008. First pass of a rough set of rules. So I think maybe the battle bag idea may complete the picture for me. Driving to my latest BGDW meeting I thought up these distinct areas of the game that would compose a single round of play:. Produce raw materials (5 colors of small cubes). Produce high tech products (increasing the supply of them and lowering the potential value). 2 - There are 3 or more ...

Here I will try and keep up to date the my progress on the design of this board game. Sunday, December 30, 2007. So it sounds like I want to make a game where players can produce raw materials then they can build things with it maybe like how you can build different things in Settlers. One of the things players can build are time modules. They will be able to use these in different ways throughout the game. For example to speed up production or to change the value of something. Thats all for now. MONOPOL...

Here I will try and keep up to date the my progress on the design of this board game. Thursday, March 20, 2008. Play Test with real people! A couple nights ago I got the chance to play test V 0.04 with my BGDW friends. I thought it went pretty well for that group. I mean they / we are a bunch of highly critical, well meaning, strong opinionated group. Once we got past a couple of the colors are hard to discern most of the game played reasonably well. It a was very valuable session. I will make adjust...

PRODUCTION: Made some progress
http://timesmugglers.blogspot.com/2008/03/made-some-progress.html
Here I will try and keep up to date the my progress on the design of this board game. Wednesday, March 19, 2008. I have been working hard on this game. It has been coming along pretty good. Each time I play it I change small parts of the rules almost with every turn I take. Mostly just tightening up the quantities of stuff. While I am excited about the game on some levels I am not sure the world will like it. I mean its not about Space Pirates or anything cool. PRODUCTION v 0.02. 183; 180 Gizmos; 30 blue...

Here I will try and keep up to date the my progress on the design of this board game. Tuesday, January 15, 2008. I have hit an impass. Not much has happened on this front lately. I am having trouble with what I consider to be the center of the game. What is it the player is doing while they play? Are they building something? Is it enough to just collect stocks? Maybe for Acquire but this game has to have stuff for the player to manipulate in some way. Something for them to build. Some theme. More like Se...

PRODUCTION: First Playtest
http://timesmugglers.blogspot.com/2008/03/first-playtest.html
Here I will try and keep up to date the my progress on the design of this board game. Monday, March 10, 2008. There is nothing like play testing to burst my bubbles. While some parts of the game work well the short of it is the game is too random. It is too hard build a plan and then execute it. I have to give more thought to the order of events. I think I will double or tripple certain parts of the events before you move on to the next part. Choose and ship products - and learn what the new demand is.

Noblemen: December 2008
http://noblemenboardgame.blogspot.com/2008_12_01_archive.html
Monday, December 1, 2008. Hippodice wants to play test my game. This means Noblemen made it past the first hurdle. That means that my game is one of about 30 they want to play test for the next few months and determine a winner. So I took my game to the UPS store and they wanted $176 to ship my 6lb game! Holey smokes. I left there without shipping my game, thinking that I was not going to get to enter the second stage of Hippodice. Posted by Dwight Sullivan. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Noblemen: Family Fluff
http://noblemenboardgame.blogspot.com/2008/09/family-fluff.html
Thursday, September 18, 2008. Over the last few weeks I have been working on what I want to put on the outside of each of the five screens. To do this I started reading about the families. I have decided to focus on one person from the family during the time period of the game. What I found was some fairly interesting parts of 1600th century English history. In most of the cases it was too bad that I had to reduce the history to a blurb. What will go on the game in some cases are even more condensed.
