Striving for success in every endeavour: Brief update- an early start to 2011
http://patrickwaters.blogspot.com/2010/10/brief-update-early-start-to-2011.html
Striving for success in every endeavour. Saturday, October 16, 2010. Brief update- an early start to 2011. After more than a year of playing around I've felt the itch. The itch to get back into structured training, the feeling that something is out of place. That it's time to get back on the horse. I resisted the itch for almost a month, until it was almost unbearable. I started dreaming about long runs, brick workouts and lung busting swim sets. A bit sick, right? I haven't done any VO2, lactates or pre...

Striving for success in every endeavour. Saturday, July 25, 2009. It's July 25th, almost 5 months since my last blog entry. I've noticed that I am much, much better at using twitter than I am blogging. So I'm going to keep this brief and short in hopes that I continue to blog on a more frequent basis. Finished IM NZ (Just over 13 hours). Graduated from UBC with a BSc. in Food, Nutrition, Health and Human Kinetics (a mouthful, I know). Registered with Canadian Society of Exercise Physiologists. Done 10 da...

Striving for success in every endeavour. Sunday, March 21, 2010. Here I am- Maui. Surprisingly my training has not suffered- I'm running 6x/wk, swimming 4x and starting to spin on the bike; it's still too cold for a wimp like me to ride in Canada outside. Which brings me to Maui- a solid 8 day training camp. My flight over was uneventful, watched " The Hurt Locker. And " Up In the Air. Training plan for today:. Steady run around I'Ao Valley State Park. 4km mid afternoon swim- some threshold work. Smooth ...

Striving for success in every endeavour: August 2009
http://patrickwaters.blogspot.com/2009_08_01_archive.html
Striving for success in every endeavour. Saturday, August 29, 2009. If you don't use it, you lose it. That statement pretty much sums up what has gone on for me in the last 9 weeks. If I was to compare the amount of physical work I've done in the last 9 weeks to any other period over the last 18 months I have been a lazy sack of hammers. Was I disappointed, yes? Ok, so fast track 10 weeks which brings me to now. A 5km run to raise funds for the Childrens Hunger Fund in Salt Lake City, Utah. But here's on...

Striving for success in every endeavour. Saturday, February 21, 2009. I spent last week doing some of my metabolic tests. After several hours of tinkering and learning how excel works I have came up with some information. The test done on Feb 13-09 was a VO2 max. The metabolic cart used was a Cosmed K4. The bike and computer system- RacerMate- Velotron Elite. Lactates were taken using Lactate Pro. The Blue lines indicate my results from this test, where the red is the testing I did in May of '08. Run pow...

Taken from a note I wrote September 7, 2008.
