January! | (near)pandemonium
https://nearpandemonium.wordpress.com/2013/01/14/january
Reflections and ramblings on life after school. Skip to primary content. January 14, 2013. So much for that. 2 I received the lovely gift of a camera for Christmas, and my goal since opening it was to take at least one picture every day. So I take it with me and try to keep an eye out for interesting and beautiful things to snap up. Sometimes I forget, but I’ve done okay so far. Here are some of the highlights from the last couple weeks:. Oh, and this bonus squirrel picture:. January 15, 2013 at 1:07 am.
On Working | (near)pandemonium
https://nearpandemonium.wordpress.com/2013/02/28/on-working
Reflections and ramblings on life after school. Skip to primary content. February 28, 2013. I am realizing more and more everyday that working 40 hours a week is just not my style. Like: Where did all my time go? Why do sleeping and eating seem so inconvenient? It’s just really crazy how working sucks up my time. And sometimes the sky is pretty great in the morning! Though the buildings and signs are not. This entry was posted in Thoughts. 2 thoughts on “ On Working. March 5, 2013 at 5:39 pm. You are com...

Reflections and ramblings on life after school. Skip to primary content. Bird Watch and One Day at a Time. March 4, 2013. Weekends are such a strange thing. I love them when they’re coming up, I miss them when they’re over, and I freak out about them when they’re actually happening. This weekend, for example, I got to do a ton of great things – listening to great music, bird watching, drinking a ton of coffee, going to a crazy ballet, and hanging out with my favorite people. Reflections and ramblings on life after school. Skip to primary content. Throwback: February 4, 2012. February 3, 2013. I think the past is fascinating. I guess life is always changing, but it seems like mine has been set on maximum change for the past twelve months. No pun intended. but actually kind of intended). Now that I’ve had time to recover from my pre-recital freaking out, all I really remember from the day is feeling totally loved and supported by all my friends and family who travelled f...

Winter blues | HMS Badger

From the shelf: “The Buried Giant”. Second read: “Slaughterhouse-Five” →. It seems very unfair to me that I’m here in Los Angeles where it’s warm and sunny when I want to be somewhere that’s cold and wintry and that so many people who are in cold and wintry places would rather be somewhere warm and sunny. Newer posts →. Second read: “Catch-22”. Rereading’s been a smashing success so far. I first read. In 2009 during my sophomore year of college. I remembered loving it and laughing at it. I remembered Yossarian and Major Major Major Major. I didn’t remember much else. I often only hold onto vague impressions of books, fuzzy plot lines, and knowing whether I liked it. I’m hoping rereading will make memories of my favorite books more vivid. Right now, and there are parts clearly lifted from. I say no, Bryan ...

From the shelf: “Endurance”. Let me tell you about the most amazing thing I’ve read: Shackleton’s voyage is unbelievable. It’s 1914, and Shackleton wants to be the first person to completely cross Antarctica. He collects a crew, some scientists, a photographer, an artist, and … Continue reading →. Second read: “Slaughterhouse-Five”. From the shelf: “Endurance” →. Friends don’t let friends run marathons alone. There’s something especially wonderful about being around old friends. You slip into a version of yourself that is so comfortable and understood. I hung out with a bunch of people I’ve known a very long time (and a few I feel like I’ve known a long time) in March. They came for the LA Marathon, which Zach and three of them ran. This entry was posted in Events. I LOVE THIS PHOTO!

Friends don’t let friends run marathons alone →. Second read: “Slaughterhouse-Five”. Were two of her books I read. I forgot that Kurt is one of the characters in the story. I remembered the line “Billy Pilgrim has come unstuck in time” but forgot that it’s the first sentence of chapter two instead of chapter one’s. I forgot how horrific the firebombing of Dresden was, even though I knew that was a main part of the book. And I forgot why the alternate title is. This entry was posted in Books. Post was not...
Central Park, Street Vendors, Cheap Books, and… Rachael Ray!? « Riven Things

Snapshots of Shining from Shook Foil. Central Park, Street Vendors, Cheap Books, and… Rachael Ray! My life and my mind has been consumed by our magazine project. It’s been a lot of work, and it’s actually creeping into my dreams. So… I won’t say anything more about that. However, here are a few happy snippets from the past few days! I went to Central Park afterwards (after a long detour, because of the Puerto Rican Day Parade). Later that day I finally bought something from the street vendors. These thin...

Friends don’t let friends run marathons alone. From the shelf: “Endurance”. My perfect Pan gave this perfect book to me for Christmas. The writing is a delight, and the story is simply incredible. I had to keep reminding myself it wasn’t fiction. I had so much fun reading this book–when I finished, I was tempted to turn back to page one and start all over again! This entry was posted in Books. Magazines and Me « Riven Things

Snapshots of Shining from Shook Foil. Today, I went to Rolling Stone, where I learned even more about magazines. They all wear jeans over there, and some wear t-shirts and Chucks. They told us about what they do. They showed us their hallway of covers (a hallway lined with the covers of all the past issues). It was pretty fun. Ask me more about it if you want 🙂. Today, I did get to go home with some Rolling Stone swag. A free 2011 special issue on the Beatles and my pass from security 🙂.

Snapshots of Shining from Shook Foil. Church Going (Or That Time I Went to Hillsong). When I came back, the sun was higher, and it was really hot–in the 90s I think. People–with and without tickets–were standing in lines outside the theatre–and it was only 11:20. Waiting out there felt strange. It felt like a concert. It felt like… a sporting event? Something that you wait in line for in crowds. But it was going to church. And I realized, why shouldn’t it be like this? And most of all, why. I am aware of...
