Monday, May 29, 2006. Where I grew up, Memorial Day weekend was the time to remember. Loved ones who had passed away. I remember going out to my mom’s garden with her and helping her cut flowers to put in bouquets. In my mind, Peonies and Iris will always be grave flowers. Yet, that is a good thing! But in this part of the country, Memorial Day is still mostly for soldiers. I like to go to my little town’s Memorial Day parade, a very somber affair. I missed it this year, unfortunately!
