Thursday, May 28, 2009. Mt Hutt, Early Opening. (#4). May 30th. Well its the 150th day of the year according to the Gregorian Calendar, Joan of Arc was martyred and the French banned British Beef in 2001 because of suspected BSC. May 30th 2009, the first day of the New Zealand snow season. Yep Mt Hutt opens its doors on Saturday with an incredible 100cm base. This is the earliest opening for 10 years! So drop the kids off watch them magically ride up the carpet (hey neat name) then hit the slopes yourself.

Thursday, June 11, 2009. Come on give the guys a break.(#7). The snow is holding up although temperatures have been increasing and the freezing levels are rising, this has resulted in rain on some of the lower fields, and some serious gales on both islands. Snow is again forecasted for the weekend, and the temperatures are supposed to drop so things are all good, as always. The big issue this week on website's and blogs etc, is why can't the ski areas open early? They have snow so why can't they open?

Mt Ruapehu have just told me they are opening this weekend! Now before you all strap on the powder ski's, backpack and tell your wife you may be so. Me time. it's only the Meadow at Turoa.
