Irish Tenor Banjo Blog: November 2014
http://itmbanjo.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
Irish Tenor Banjo Blog. Sunday, November 9, 2014. I go to two Irish music schools a year, the I rishfest Summer School in Milwaukee. And the O'Flaherty IrishMusic Retreat near Dallas. I also go to the St. Louis Toinol. When I can and between the three of them I get to meet a lot of Irish trad players. But my favorite of these is the O'Flaherty because it is on one campus, the food is good and the instructors outstanding. This year was no exception. I took two classes: Seamus Egan. I video all of my lesso...

He is very busy in the studio backing up every major star in trad music. Then there was Daniel Mehalko. The former wunderkind who grew up at O'Flaherty. And finally, the man himself, Mick Moloney. I sus...

Irish Tenor Banjo Blog: July 2015
http://itmbanjo.blogspot.com/2015_07_01_archive.html
Irish Tenor Banjo Blog. Monday, July 6, 2015. What I can do is give you some ideas about how to setup your banjo and where the limits of an amateur banjo mechanic are. This video is aimed at the player who wants to maintain his or her instrument, not someone who wants to make major changes or anything past changing the head. Which only has a simple metal hoop (of cour...

http://itmbanjo.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html
Irish Tenor Banjo Blog. Sunday, June 1, 2014. The Other Way to Make a Difference. I ran across a book called " ASAP Irish Mandolin - Learn How to Play the Irish Way. That's a lot to say for 31 pages and a short CD, but it did inspire me to think more about left hand ornamentation. Doc Rossi doesn't mention slides as a left h...

The Official Blog of the Fiddler's Green Music Shop in Austin, Texas. Sunday, October 30, 2011. Cool Stuff: How many tunes can you hear at once? I'm a recent fan of Radiolab ( http:/ www.radiolab.org. And one of their shorts caught my ear enough that I thought I'd share.
