Pete's Pumpkins: August 2007

http://petespumpkins.blogspot.com/2007_08_01_archive.html

My First Micro Layout. Thursday, August 30, 2007. Barn Raising – Part Two. With the landscape contours in place, Pete’s Pumpkins model railroad was finally starting to take shape, thus, it was time to add the barn. Having only previously scratchbuilt structures in N scale, I wasn’t used to the material needs of a large scale structure – I could build and entire N scale city with the styrene needed to build a 1:32 barn! Wednesday, August 29, 2007. Tracks and Tunnels – Part Two. Finally, I smoothed out som...

Pete's Pumpkins: Trees and Shrubs

http://petespumpkins.blogspot.com/2007/10/trees-and-shrubs.html

My First Micro Layout. Tuesday, October 2, 2007. Once everything was dry, I punched holes in the scenery using an awl, and planted the shrubs with a dab of white glue. For the tree, I drilled a larger hole near the barn, filled it with hot glue and pressed in the tree until the glue had set. That's some of the nicest fall scenery I've ever seen. And also some of the best blending of foreground scenery and 2D backdrops too! October 5, 2007 at 2:26 PM. October 6, 2007 at 10:31 PM.

Pete's Pumpkins: Pete's Pumpkins at a Glance

http://petespumpkins.blogspot.com/2007/11/petes-pumpkins-at-glance.html

My First Micro Layout. Wednesday, November 14, 2007. Pete's Pumpkins at a Glance. I spent some time and compiled a small gallery of images that document progress of the Pete’s Pumpkins model railroad over the course of the last two months. Before I started this project, I doubted that it was possible to build a model railroad in such a short time – however having completed this railroad in 9 weeks has left me happily enlightened. So what’s next? December 4, 2007 at 9:45 AM. December 4, 2007 at 10:24 PM.

Tinkering with HOn30: September 2008

http://hon30tinker.blogspot.com/2008_09_01_archive.html

Tuesday, September 23, 2008. Well I'm on a roll now with these small chassis so it's on to another Plymouth, this time a 7 ton DL model. I used drawings from the Sept/Oct 2006 NG&SLG, but instead of a -2 model (low cab) I modeled a taller cab that hides the motor. The chassis has double worm reduction with a total ratio of 210:1. Again using Nigel Lawton's 10x12mm coreless motor. This is round one of etching the body. Still more to add. This locomotive is only 1-5/8" long! I am happy with the see- thru.

Tinkering with HOn30: Rubberband man get down.

http://hon30tinker.blogspot.com/2008/09/rubberband-man-get-down.html

Wednesday, September 10, 2008. Rubberband man get down. Another bag of goodies from Nigel Lawton I set off to try and quiet down the spur gear drive that was used on the Plymouth chassis. On the Porter I will try this rubber band set up. The reduction from the motor to the lay shaft is 8.5:1, that coupled to the 14:1 of the worms gives a grand total ratio of about 119:1. The small and large V-groove pulleys were bought from Nigel and the center compound pulley was turned on a lathe as one piece.

Tinkering with HOn30: A small layout

http://hon30tinker.blogspot.com/2008/10/small-layout.html

Wednesday, October 1, 2008. I will keep this post updated as I go. I usually model in N scale and have been running these HOn. 30 chassis on a N scale layout. I decided to build a small proper HOn. 30 layout. It is only 13.5" x 24" and is based on a plan in the Oct 1979 MR. I have built this same layout twice in On30 so you could say it is a favorite of mine. You can see some of the On30 versions here:. Http:/ www.carendt.us/scrapbook/page37a/index.html. This is a overall shot of the drawn plan. January ...

Tinkering with HOn30: Porter is done

http://hon30tinker.blogspot.com/2008/09/porter-is-done.html

Tuesday, September 23, 2008. Finished up the paint and Neolube. Lightly weathered with dirt colors and good old powdered graphite. In the end I do wish I had added compensation to the rear driver, but feel with the siderods. It would be out of my skill set. Maybe next time? I am happy with the see- thru. Fact it has many details that a Bachmann. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). David K. Smith's Z scale modeling. Almost time for paint. Rubberband man get down. On to the Porter.
