Tuesday, May 7, 2013. Getting to Know Santiago. Waking up today absolutely sucked! This was such a rich environment for learning the Spanish language with many complex sentences and a Chilean student there to help translate. I was even able to make faces at children at the museum on a field trip! Once we had finished up at with this sightseeing, we decided we needed to eat. Sunday, May 19, 2013. Another nice and recharging free day! The weather in Vina del Mar today is a bit colder and cloudier, don’t forget its fall, or “oto. Ño”, in the southern hemisphere. Rest is exactly what I needed and it is what I got! Who knew I would miss pasta so much while having such great other foods while down here! Friday, May 10, 2013. I don't know how to even start explaining today! Just, wow. As I mentioned, today was our trip to the vineyard Vina Indomita about an hour away from the hotel. My brain was running out of fuel after a week of never sleeping, but with the little that I had left was all focused on my anticipation of today! I slept for about 30 minutes on the bus and woke up before pulling into the vineyard. Perfect timing too so I could build all my excitement back up! What a fantastic morning!

Hannah Fernau Plus3 Chile 2013. Tuesday, May 7, 2013. May 6th: Welcome to Valparaiso! Lunch at the university cafeteria was an interesting experience. All students who eat lunch on campus eat between one and two, and our large group, consequently, was eating at the same time as everyone else. Finding tables to seat everyone was surprisingly easy, though, because our guides asked several students if we could use their table and they willingly sat somewhere else. Hannah Fernau Plus3 Chile 2013. Sunday, May 5, 2013. May 4th: Travel Day One. Today began the long trek to Chile. Our Plus3 group met up early to head to the airport exhausted but excited to be on our way. Security went surprisingly smoothly and allowed time for brunch and conversation before boarding the plane to Dallas. I was so exhausted from several nights of not much sleep that the minute the plane between moving I fell asleep and did not wake up for half of the flight. Plus3 Chile Blog 2013.

Originally, it had been planned for us to attend a class on Reggeton, another type of Chilean dance, but unfortunately, there were scheduling complications and our bus took longer to return from Santiago than expected so our class was cancelled. Hopefully, we’ll be able to reschedule for another day. I can’t wait for tomorrow when we visit Viña Indomita and Isla Negra!
