Caressing the Circle: Hyperextension
http://caressingthecircle.blogspot.com/2008/06/hyperextension.html
Because sometimes, one must look. Sunday, June 29, 2008. Tonight, at the Mason Dixon bar in the East Village, I rode a mechanical bull for the first time. I hyperextended the three leftmost fingers on my left hand upon landing. They're puffy, but definitely not broken. Apparently, though, my performance was one that made Virginia proud. So, hey, I'm not complaining. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). A Little Help From My Friends.
Pro Football Geeks: Bad Metric?
http://profootballgeeks.blogspot.com/2007/11/bad-metric.html
Pro Football Geeks is a blog dedicated to developing quantified metrics and algorithms to analyze professional football players, teams, and coaches. I was asked why I presented teams above .500 and then compared winning percentages at home. It could be a biased metric since we already know they have a winning record. An interesting comment which boils down to, compare the teams with winning percentages at home to winning percentages on the season. Posted by Chris D. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Pro Football Geeks is a blog dedicated to developing quantified metrics and algorithms to analyze professional football players, teams, and coaches. Week 9 QB Ratings. Yards per attempt is a very common metric for analyzing QBs. The problem? Most sites forget about sacks. Every sack is representative of an attempt to pass that never was. Here are the top 10 QBs for Yards Yards Lost (sack) / Attempt Sacks. How about points per passing attempt? Brett Favre, a MVP candidate, and Kitna who are having huge se...

Caressing the Circle: March 2008
http://caressingthecircle.blogspot.com/2008_03_01_archive.html
Because sometimes, one must look. Sunday, March 16, 2008. First thought: I need to learn French. There are a lot of hot women in the city speaking French—especially in the West Village, near Washington Square Park. (And, oh, yeah, I guess it would be useful/fun to learn for other reasons, too.). Walk through Tribeca today. Early on, I stopped by a place called Bubby's for one of the most fantastic breakfasts I've had in a long time. I was also tickled to see a dish with Smithfield ham. Walking down Bleek...
Pro Football Geeks: There's no place like.....
http://profootballgeeks.blogspot.com/2007/11/theres-no-place-like.html
Pro Football Geeks is a blog dedicated to developing quantified metrics and algorithms to analyze professional football players, teams, and coaches. There's no place like. When I played football (umm that would be high school football (for a winless team) our coach would always preach (to quote Ray Lewis) "You must protect this house." (although we never did). For proof, lets look at recent superbowl teams:. Teams with losing or even records are currently 25-49 at home (34%) and 26-53 on the road (33%)&#...

Caressing the Circle: Say Something Nice
http://caressingthecircle.blogspot.com/2008/06/say-something-nice.html
Because sometimes, one must look. Friday, June 13, 2008. Oh yes, you will be mine! Generally speaking, I'm feeling much better physically, mentally, and spiritually than I was even in, say, February—no, make that mid-May. My life feels more like it's mine with each of these little commitments. Answer—doesn't always get easier. The absinthe experience was not a good one, and not one worth recounting, on many levels. The right thing is to nevermind the absinthe, so let's do that. A Little Help From My Frie...

This whole movie definitely illustrates one unshakable principle: never go to the South for any reason. Crow T. Robot. Of course, life doesn't always imitate art, so it would be wrong to assume that people from the South are all actually like this. But every time you watch a movie or a TV show and hear someone end a sentence with "y'all", this is where you usually end up. Out of all the movies we've done, none of them really do much of anything to set themselves apart from this stereotype. Road House.

January 2, 2012 · 6:31 pm. Michele Bachmann’s “Iron” Deficiency. Last summer, Margaret Thatcher snubbed Sarah Palin. Turning down a visit from the Tea Party darling because (in the words of someone in Thatcher’s camp) “That would be belittling for Margaret. Sarah Palin is nuts.” If that was really how Thatcher thought of Palin, imagine the low regard she’d have for Michele Bachmann. As an unflattering smear of Thatcher? Continue reading →.
