Tuesday, January 11, 2011. Dogs in Compost, Again! I don't get it! Saturday, January 8, 2011. 2010 Resolution #3: Seed Saving. My third resolution from 2010 was "I will save heirloom seeds from my annuals, perennials, vegetables, fruits, and herbs. I will use these seeds next year and I will trade them with other gardeners so that I can get new varieties.". Friday, January 7, 2011. Comfort Food: Vegetable Beef Soup. 2 tablespoons olive oil. 2 medium onions, diced. 4-6 cloves of garlic, minced. I will wee...

urban earth mother: Garden time
http://teru.blogspot.com/2014/04/garden-time.html
Blag blog on knitting, cooking and other "earth mothery" things by a chick in the city. Saturday, April 12, 2014. It's time to start the garden! She's two, it's time to put her to work. Apparently, sunflowers are very good at removing containments from the soil. And as long as you don't then eat the seeds or put the plants into your compost, they are an effective and quite cheap way of cleaning up decades of crap that has built up in nearly every yard in the city. Clean, you bastards! Just before spring, ...

Now that everything has calmed down, I can have a personal life. My garden is an unbelievable weedy embarrassment right now. I spent the day weeding the beds in my front yard and dividing plants for the Central Indiana Plant Swap. June 4, 2011 at 9:26 PM. What ever happened at the swap? Did I miss that post? Katie's Kitchen Garden: Squirrels!
http://katieskitchengarden.blogspot.com/2011/04/squirrels.html
Tuesday, April 19, 2011. I loathe squirrels. We used to have at least a polite relationship. I have a problem with them digging up my porch plants, despite the fact that I have tens of thousands of acorns all over my yard. Now, however, they have gone too far. They dug up my fancy reblooming iris and flung it in the porch to rot. April 18, 2011 at 6:39 PM. April 20, 2011 at 4:14 AM. Squirrels just dig up anything I have planted! April 20, 2011 at 7:40 AM. April 20, 2011 at 4:05 PM. A neighbor of mine onc...

Katie's Kitchen Garden: May 2010
http://katieskitchengarden.blogspot.com/2010_05_01_archive.html
Thursday, May 27, 2010. Sometimes Evil Is Pretty. I lived in a Victorian era neighborhood and the Victorians really loved the catalpa. About 100 years ago, there was some sort of tree disease that spread through the neighborhood, killing many of the trees. The neighbors living here at the time replaced the trees with catalpas. Now we have hundreds of mature catalpa trees all over our neighborhood, including my neighbor's backyard. Wednesday, May 26, 2010. Sunday, May 23, 2010. I went to a big box store a...

Just another WordPress site. Skip to primary content. Skip to secondary content. I picked up some Isa Brown Chicks today. The first time I’ve had chicks in the summer. In the past I’ve had chicks in early spring. I had to make sure they were under a heat lamp and the heat lamp wan’t too close or too far away. I don’t think I’ll buy anymore in the spring, even though that’s when the farm stores have them. August 17, 2015. February 3, 2014. Annie’s Heirloom Seeds. The Sorry State of my pasture. May 16, 2013.
