After a long series of flights we checked into our Hotel shortly after midnight. We had been traveling for almost 23 hours. Violet couldn't quite make it to the room. She flopped down on our bags while we were in the lobby getting keys. Our trip out of Rome actually went fine, it was Chicago that messed us up! We ate McDonalds (anything but pasta! We took one with a dinosaur on it that was from Germany headed for Colorado (boy will we make that more of a possibility) and left 3. Its funny, in Rhodes I left one that had a beer bottle opener on it. You know, we left others, but so far that one is getting the most mileage. Just goes to show that goecachers have certain interests I guess! I have at long last ...

We are a traveling family come along on our adventures! There was an error in this gadget. Saturday, May 8, 2010. Phew did walk today! Per Glenn's pedomter 15,381 steps today. At 2,000 or so steps a mile there is good reason that all our feet hurt! We went to the settlement on the island on the Tiber and did a geocache. Then we took the bus to Sant Angelo, the ancient papal castle and prison. From there we walked to the. Vatican for lunch and photos. Then on to Trevi fountain. We are back in Oregon.

Today we got up and tried our hand at buses and trains. We took a bus to the Metro Station, and then a train out towards the ocean. We stopped at Ostia Antica, an ancient Roman port town. Saturday, May 8, 2010. Now we are back in Rome, and only a few days away from re-entering reality. `. The most ironic thing? Its raining. If we didn't have shutters and cobblestones outside, I'd think we were still in Oregon from the weather. We did have glorious weather on the trip on the boat. Even Egypt, known for its hot weather, was a mere 95 degrees at the pyramids (considerably cooler than the summer temps of 120-130! See you back in the states soon!
