吉岡 勲 よしおか いさお. 更に近代工学における先駆者ウィリアム フルード 流体力学におけるフルード数で有名 に関する技術史的研究は、退職後もライフワークとして継続され、その成果は日本造船学会誌に9年間にわたり25回連載され、絶賛を博すとともに日本造船学会賞も受賞されました。 吉岡先生は細部を揺るがせにしない講義をされたほか、学生に対しては厳しくも慈愛にみちた教育をされ、今なお多くの卒業生に慕われていることは、 ウィリアム フルード伝 の編集 出版が、吉岡先生が交通事故に遭われ負傷された後に、多数の教え子の自発的協力を得て完遂されたことからも伺えます。 また先生が亡くなられた後は、ご遺族から蔵書を譲り受け、船舶海洋教室図書室内に 吉岡勲先生記念文庫 を設け、教育 研究に資するとともに末永く顕彰されています。 学会賞を受賞されたライフワークは ウィリアム フルード伝 近代工学の曙 造船学の父 として出版されました 展示しています。

濱田 隆士 はまだ たかし. 1966年には、京都在住の益富寿之助博士と共著で、カラー版 原色化石図鑑 保育社 を刊行した。 それは、後に刊行された 日本の化石 小学館 に引き継がれていった。 その成果は普及面にも活用され、1975年に カラー自然ガイド 生きている化石 動物 を刊行された。 化石へのX線CTスキャンの適用や、 コンピュータ グラフィックス による三次元復元は、先駆的な研究として海外にも紹介された。 なかでも、NHKの特集番組であった 地球大紀行 や 生命 40億年はるかな旅 などに参画され、地球科学だけでなく科学全般を社会に普及することを努められた。
