Wednesday, December 26, 2012. I took the bright red tablecloth off the shelf and gave it a giant snapping foof to unfold it. On our table it went,.in preparation for Christmas dinner. Of course, I had to stop to admire the tiny stitches in the hem. I could never do that; but my mother could. And every year as I perform this ritual, she is there telling me what to do next and to please get on with it. When all the children had left home, this is the tree that we continue to use each and every year.
