Not just pith helmets and lion hunting. Simon, our guide, told us that elephants are his favorite residents of the Maasai Mara, since they are quite intelligent. Apparently they exhibit complex social behaviors, such as mourning their dead. There were a couple families we ran into several times on our drives. Not just pith helmets and lion hunting. You don’t go to church? Something I think would surprise people to know about Kenya is that it is quite religious. The vast majority of people are Christian – Protestant/Catholics make up almost 80% of the population. About 10% are Muslim and then a smattering of “other”.
