diary of Faithy, the baker: TBB: Molasses Crumb Cakelets
http://theamateurbaker.blogspot.com/2015/07/tbb-molasses-crumb-cakelets.html
Diary of Faithy, the baker. Monday, July 13, 2015. TBB: Molasses Crumb Cakelets. At:Monday, July 13, 2015. These cakelets are so easy to put together. No eggs or butter. Totally vegan. Lots of molasses. I couldn't find Grandma brand molasses (use to have here but now everywhere is just Rabbit brand molasses) so just make do with whatever that is selling here. I think i scooped to much and instead of it being flat, it formed a dome . Did I ever mention that I love eggs and butter? These cakelets look so a...

Evil Cake Lady: February 2015
http://evilcakelady.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
Why Evil Cake Lady. Monday, February 23, 2015. The Baking Bible: Lemon Posset Shortcakes. This week's project is another one of those easy to make, spectacular results kind of bake. Little genoise cakes filled with a lemon posset, which is a lemony custard made with just lemon juice, sugar, and cream. The acid in the lemon juice is what sets the cream, and such spare ingredients really let the lemon shine. A perfect dessert for the lemon lover in your life. And it is still perfectly good. When we finally...

Evil Cake Lady: February 2012
http://evilcakelady.blogspot.com/2012_02_01_archive.html
Why Evil Cake Lady. Tuesday, February 07, 2012. A Redder (and better) Red Velvet. As it happens when I pick up a new cookbook, I am instantly drawn to the all the baked goods listed inside. They may be preceded by succulent roasts and amazing vegetables, but when I see preheat your oven to 350°. My eyes light up. So when my sister gave me Tender: A Cook and His Vegetable Patch. By Nigel Slater for Christmas this year, the first recipes that made a dent in my brain were things like pumpkin scones! Step fi...

Evil Cake Lady: May 2015
http://evilcakelady.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html
Why Evil Cake Lady. Wednesday, May 20, 2015. The Baking Bible: Double Chocolate Oriolos. This is a superb cookie. Crisp, buttery, deeply chocolaty, and best of all, easy to make. Everything gets whizzed up in the food processor in a matter of minutes. A quick rest in the refrigerator (or, in my case, overnight) and then little balls of dough are rolled out. These are so damn good. I really am tempted to make another batch, right away. Links to this post. The Baking Bible: Golden Orange Panettone. I subst...

Evil Cake Lady: October 2012
http://evilcakelady.blogspot.com/2012_10_01_archive.html
Why Evil Cake Lady. Sunday, October 28, 2012. I tell ya, people. That Heavenly Cakes Bakethrough I participated in really killed my ability to bake AND blog. I am TRYING to get my mojo back, but as you might have noticed I'm not succeeding. I'm not beating myself up about it.but I do miss my weekly ritual of baking and blogging and reading your comments. I think I mentioned in Joelf's bday post. That I had extra biscuit lying around waiting to be used, right? And ate it with some whipped cream. Well frie...

Evil Cake Lady: November 2014
http://evilcakelady.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
Why Evil Cake Lady. Sunday, November 30, 2014. The Baking Bible: Kouign Amann. It has been well over a year since my last post. I was considering retiring the blog until Rose published her latest baking book (The Baking Bible) and the Heavenly Bakers were resurrected and renamed Rose's Alpha Bakers. I couldn't say no to another bake along with this wonderful group of people, so here we go. I was terrified of laminated dough before I made these. All that rolling and turning and refrigeration! Then the dou...

The Baking Bible’s Whole Wheat Walnut Loaf for the Alpha Bakers – custard guts
https://custardguts.com/2015/08/04/whole-wheat-bread
August 4, 2015. The Baking Bible’s Whole Wheat Walnut Loaf for the Alpha Bakers. Hope this finds you well! Back with Rose’s delicious whole wheat bread. I consider myself an experienced bread baker, yet, I almost failed this recipe. I read and re-read the instructions but somehow my bread turned out really quite ugly. Slumpy and slouchy (a country song comes to mind! No walnuts in my bread. I don’t enjoy that type of textural distraction. I did use the loveliest French walnut oil. I stared at my dough.

The Baking Bible’s Kourambiethes for the Alpha Bakers – custard guts

July 21, 2015. July 22, 2015. The Baking Bible’s Kourambiethes for the Alpha Bakers. It’s lovely in here and I hope you are having a great time wherever you are. Well, Rose’s recipe takes much longer to make but is extra delicious! Maybe slightly more delicious than Tessa’s! Now I have two favourite versions. I called on my 12-year old niece and 10-year old nephew to help me make these. What a pleasure cooking with them! No notes this week. We were very obedient and followed the recipe as is.
