Reading With My Boys. Using Books to Raise My Boys. Laquo; Jumping Back In. My Fellow Organizing Nerds. On August 24, 2013. So summer makes me a little crazy, not enough structure, to much heat. I stumbled onto library thing and now have all of my books stored perfectly!

Step 1: I got rid of a ton of clothes and toys that were just taking up space. Step 2: Think rationally about my boys and decide what they need (not what someone else says they need) and decide how to put that as a priority. Step 3: Let go of trying to be perfect, doesn’t exist, not going to happen. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here.

Reading With My Boys. Using Books to Raise My Boys. Laquo; Teen Scene: Things I want my Boys to Really Understand. My Fellow Organizing Nerds. On August 24, 2013. In the past there have been times when I’m reading a blog, anticipating the next post and all of a sudden nothing for months, I hate that. Now I can say I do that too! I stumbled onto my blog when I entered “reading with boys” into my browser and found my son urging the world to read my blog, how cute is that? August 24, 2013 at 2:52 am.

Sunday, August 23, 2015. My exchange students have arrived! I have had so much fun meeting them. They come from GERMANY, FINLAND, SPAIN, BELGIUM, FRANCE, and COLOMBIA. What a great year we are going to have together! Just as fun as meeting the students, is getting to know their wonderful host families. I am so grateful to them for making the American dream come true for these students! Sunday, August 16, 2015. It was County Fair week! The very best part is finding our entries to see what we won! Sunday, July 26, 2015. Most of what I post is us PLAYING HARD but believe it or not, I also believe in WORKING HARD. You shouldn't have one without the other! I have 4 kids ages 14 to 7. Before they can go off and play with friends or watch TV or do anything really, they have to pass off 4 things all before noon. 1 Room clean means bed made, nightstand tidied, and floor picked up. By Lois Lowry already this summer and we're currently reading Rush Revere and the Brave Pilgrims. Now our rule is that everyo...

Sunday, May 24, 2015. Sunday, May 17, 2015. I scored some tickets to the Piano Guys concert in Las Vegas! And we got to spend time with these really great relatives who joined us. Fremont Street experience was visually splendid. We stayed at the Golden Nugget, which was like a city of glitz and fun. The water slide going through shark tank was awesome! It was a quick trip but still so nice to have some time with just the two of us! Sunday, May 10, 2015. 3 of the girls participated in our local Hershey Tr...
sweetnsassy6: Reunion Time
http://sweetnsassy6.blogspot.com/2015/07/reunion-time.html
Saturday, July 25, 2015. Summers are for family reunions. We had a big one with Brandon's side of the family in Payson, Utah. We got a professional family portrait in our matching tees. The theme: KEEP YOUR EYE ON THE PRIZE. We had a few devotionals, hymns, and stories around the campfire to reiterate it. Highlights for the kids: giant blow-up waterslide, building a fort in the mountains, water games, and wildflower crafts. Everyone agreed that the low was sleeping because, in our tent, we didn't get any!

Saturday, February 21, 2015. Happy Birthday to this girl. She celebrated a big #10. What she really wanted and begged for all year long was a hedgehog. She got one- stuffed! She also got running shoes and few little things to find around the house. Breakfast: Cookie crisp cereal. Lunch at the BBQ joint with dad. Dinner: steak and salad. Dad's specialty. Day Trip to Arches. The desert in this part of the state is beautiful! We marveled at all the cool rock formations. Well worth the effort! It's here and ...

Sunday, November 30, 2014. Talent show at the church. Brandon celebrated birthday 40-something. He liked getting some new shirts and treats, but his favorite was the no fog shaving mirror for the shower. Life-changer. No one was more excited about gift-giving than Cannon. He colored a very nice U.S. flag and collected a few random trinkets throughout the house to re-gift to Dad. We decorated for Christmas! The Americans brought the root beer. Only the Colombian gave root beer the thumbs up. The E...It fe...

Wednesday, December 31, 2014. Making the Most of Winter Break. The day after a wonderful Christmas we suddenly found ourselves in Salt Lake City. It was one of those spontaneous times when you start planning that perfect day in the city: temple square, shopping, dinner, ice skating and a movie! A last minute deal on a hotel sealed the deal. I announce to the family that we've had a change of plans, everyone get packed. And they did. We made it, albeit on the coldest day of the year so far, 30 F. After ou...

Sunday, October 26, 2014. Brynn gave a lesson on being thankful. We all carved pumpkins. I have to say, this was our most creative year! Saturday, October 25, 2014. Let the parties begin! Our neighborhood get-together was full of festive treats, prizes, and games for the kids. I took the exchange students to their first, and possibly last, haunted cornmaze. Oh the screams! Crazy clown followed them, scary guys in chainsaws, and the cornstalks rattled with suspicious creatures. Our kids had fun too! Stick...

Cannon won a 1st place medal in the boys 1/2 mile. Adrie won 2nd in the girls 1 mile. Brandon won 2nd overall in the 5k with a time of 22 :40. Everyone was a winner! First day...

Sunday, September 28, 2014. Fall is officially here. Nowhere is it better observed than at Fish Lake, with an elevation over 9,000. This was one of those times when nature takes precedence over school. We just had to see Fall spectacular before the weekend storm blew it all away. Denmark and Belgium, as they are sometimes called at school. Glad we got the foliage tour in, because the weekend, just as predicted, brought. Loads of rain and an almost flooded basement. Reading with my ears. Sunday, February 1, 2015. And now to the "appreciation" of George Eliot. In a New Yorker article in 2011. And last year expanded her thesis and published My Life in Middlemarch. Mead takes the topic of the title (i.e., Miss Brooke or Three Love Problems) and brings in Eliot's background, her personal story, or an historical context that is always fascinating. Reading with my kids. These are the children's books my six year old son and twin three year olds love. We hope that you will, too. Saturday, February 25, 2012. reading with my mom
Reading with my mom. May 31, 2011. While walking through the grocery store parking lot tonight I overheard a mom say to her daughter (teenager) "You should read this book I'm reading." I wanted to reach over and tell that daughter to read the book. Take advantage of the moment. How many times did my mom say that to me? Seriously.a million times. And how many times did I read the book.not many. So, here I am aimlessly making my way through her bookcases, searching for that connection. I suppose what I hav...

Reading with my Twin. The Amazingly Specific Insults of Dmitri Prokovich Razumihin. October 9, 2012. This blog has been known to take enjoyment in the antiquated put-downs of classic literature (cf. “Son of a Rum Puncheon! 8221;)…but no one matches Razumihin in the department of withering zingers. What he lacks in brevity he makes up for in amazing specificity. Here’s how he lays it on Raskolnikov. You are made of spermaceti ointment and you’ve lymph in your veins instead of blood. A girl who could spent her whole life stuck in the world of fantasy and romance. Review: Second Chance Summer by Morgan Matson. August 5, 2015. August 5, 2015. Second Chance Summer was the last book I had left to read by Morgan Matson and it did not disappoint. It is one of them novels that definitely will have you crying a river once you complete it. It has now become one of my favorite books I have read this year and will be reread in the future. I think Morgan Matson is very good at writing sad scenes...
