Beauty for Ashes: June 2010
http://nicholsfamilyfuntime.blogspot.com/2010_06_01_archive.html
The always honest, sometimes funny, occasionally self-deprecating thoughts of a mommy-wannabe. Lilypie First Birthday tickers. Wednesday, June 30, 2010. And Now, For the Rest of the Story. We’ve been told more than once that we would need major medical intervention for a chance to conceive, right? I joked to Sugarbear that I could be pregnant… he complimented me on my hopeful statement, as hope has not been my strong suite, while also reminding me that miracles do happen. It was an amazing day, although ...

My Journey Toward Haiti: June 2011
http://charlenejane-myjourneytowardhaiti.blogspot.com/2011_06_01_archive.html
My Journey Toward Haiti. Saturday, June 25, 2011. What a fun day of shopping! The Baptist Mission (which is about half way between GLA and Fort Jacques) hosts both an indoor and an outdoor market. Inside there is a restaurant, gift shop, and flower shop. Outside, (mostly) foreign shoppers barter with local vendors for the best prices. Bartering can be a little overwhelming, as the vendors are quite convincing and you really have to set firm boundaries and stick to them (not my forte). I’ve been put...

My Journey Toward Haiti: April 2011
http://charlenejane-myjourneytowardhaiti.blogspot.com/2011_04_01_archive.html
My Journey Toward Haiti. Tuesday, April 26, 2011. So, About Haiti. If you’ve known me for any amount of time, or you’ve dug around on my sidebar, you know that I’m passionate about orphan care and adoption. I read everything I can get my hands on about orphanage models, domestic and transracial adoption, attachment disorders, children from “hard places”, and the list goes on. No, I’m not thinking of bringing home a child any time soon, and ideally not until I’m married (don’t worry, Mom). So, about Haiti.

My Journey Toward Haiti: July 2011
http://charlenejane-myjourneytowardhaiti.blogspot.com/2011_07_01_archive.html
My Journey Toward Haiti. Wednesday, July 6, 2011. Those of you who told me the hardest part of my trip would be leaving to come home were absolutely right. Saying goodbye to my new friends (the volunteers and staff), and especially to the babies, was very emotional. I will no doubt write more on this later, when I am better rested. I'll also post some pictures of the route from GLA to the Port-au-Prince airport. I am so thankful for an amazing experience in Haiti, and also thankful to be home. Although I...
