I made this hat for their Dad, the Zen Buddhist Priest, hence, it's The Monk Hat :). Supplies: 8mm 16"(40cm) circular needle. MC)1 50gram ball of worsted weight 100% wool. Holding together one strand each of mc and cc, cast on 48 st. Join. Knit in garter st (RS knit, WS purl) for 7 or 8 rows, ending on a purl row.

Red Threads: untangling: More on Making Friends as Adults

http://redthreadsblog.blogspot.com/2012/05/more-on-making-friends-as-adults.html

Knitting, spinning, food, and life as a Military Mom! Friday, May 18, 2012. More on Making Friends as Adults. Looks like there's a whole blog dedicated to Women Making Friends as Adults called MWF Seeking BFF. She's in a similar situation to most of us Military Wives:. Or to text “pedicure in half an hour? So I’m on the hunt for Miss Right. A person who can fill the one void in the otherwise great life I’ve set up in the Windy City. I always thought friendships blossom naturally, like...I've met a lot of...

Red Threads: untangling: Swirl Neckwarmer

http://redthreadsblog.blogspot.com/2008/02/swirl-neckwarmer.html

Knitting, spinning, food, and life as a Military Mom! Monday, February 18, 2008. I was inspired to create my own button-up neckwarmer after seeing YarnballBoogie's "Fourteen". Everyone at The Celtic Knot. Yarn: Catalina Bulky Alpaca, 2 skeins (comparable to Cascade Chunky Baby Alpaca, or 200 grams of the yarn of your choice). Needles: US 10.5. Extras: Medium-Large crochet hook (I think I used an N). 3 1-inch buttons (I got my handmade porcelain buttons from Joan Miller, ButtonBliss on Etsy. Row 1: chain ...

Red Threads: untangling: Manly Mitts Pattern!

http://redthreadsblog.blogspot.com/2010/02/manly-mitts-pattern.html

Knitting, spinning, food, and life as a Military Mom! Saturday, February 06, 2010. Sorry this took so long to write up, guess I haven't been in a blogging mood. I made these for my husband for Christmas at his request. The yarn I used is a random worsted weight cashmere, but I would actually advise against using a %100 cashmere, silk, or alpaca yarn for this project as it stretches out too much. About 50 grams worsted weight yarn (100 yds or so). Size US#5/3.75mm 32" circular needle, or double points.

Red Threads: untangling: Entrelac Tutorial!

http://redthreadsblog.blogspot.com/2006/03/entrelac-tutorial.html

Knitting, spinning, food, and life as a Military Mom! Sunday, March 05, 2006. Sorry this is so late and I haven't updated in Forever! I haven't had much internet access lately! This tutorial was written for an Entrelac class I did last week. To get the best effect I suggest using a varigated yarn with long color changes so that each row (or each block) is a different color. Yarns like Noro, Karaoke, and Teseo work well for this. P2tog: purl two stitches together as one (decrease). PU: pick up stitches.

Nittany Knits: November 2006

http://nittanyknits.blogspot.com/2006_11_01_archive.html

Thursday, November 30, 2006. After an emotion roller coaster week, my knitting has once again become my calming influence. And the good news is that it is my Falling Leaves Shawl that is bringing the peace. How could I have put it down for a second? Enough of this blogging, I must return to my shawl before I forsake it again. PS- If anyone out there knows who makes the FABU knitting bag that Sookie was sporting at the Stars Hollow Knit-A-Thon, please, please, please let me know! Tuesday, November 28, 2006.

Nittany Knits: December 2006

http://nittanyknits.blogspot.com/2006_12_01_archive.html

Sunday, December 31, 2006. The men in my life can be taught! First, my father got me a project bag for my knitting that boasts on the tag that it can hold up to eight bottles of wine! Wow I think that says it all. Then I got yarn from my son for my Birthday. OK, so it was Homespun from Michael's, but he MADE his father go out and get me yarn. He is going to make such a great husband! I'm telling you now ladies, he'll be eleven next month and he will make you a FABULOUS son-in-law. Get in line now! Now to...

Nittany Knits: February 2007

http://nittanyknits.blogspot.com/2007_02_01_archive.html

Wednesday, February 28, 2007. A lovely new gal joined us on Thursday night for sit 'n knit. When she was showing us what she was working on, I fell in love with the 'Calorimetry' from Knitty she was knitting with Patons Soy Wool Stripes. I of course had some sitting in my stash, so while I was in Pittsburgh I whipped one up, and here it is! The button is the antler button that I purchased while I was there. I actually bought three different sizes of buttons since I didn't know what size I would need.

Nittany Knits: July 2007

http://nittanyknits.blogspot.com/2007_07_01_archive.html

Friday, July 27, 2007. Vogue Knitting's 25 th. Anniversary issue hit my mailbox today and guess what? The Fall Forecast 2007 section on page 110 announces that Huge and Gigantic sweaters are very very fashionable this fall. Who just happens to have made a horrible mistake in gauge for her Knitting Olympics. Me, that's who. Could this beast of a sweater now be the height of fashion? Why yes, yes it could. Happy Knitting and Spinning! Posted by Nittany Knits at 10:56 PM. Wednesday, July 25, 2007. Happy Kni...

Nittany Knits: April 2007

http://nittanyknits.blogspot.com/2007_04_01_archive.html

Monday, April 30, 2007. I have a day and a half worth of work this week, and then it's time to start knitting! Wed, Thur, Fri, Sat, and Sun are all devoted to knitting. All knitting , all the time! I think I should pace myself since I've been out of the loop (pun intended), so that I'm not injured by the end of it all. Then again, maybe not. Today was dedicated to finding good Pho. Search and enjoyed a lovely lunch at An Loi. On Minstrel Way in Columbia. The fresh ingredients. Sunday, April 29, 2007.

Nittany Knits: January 2007

http://nittanyknits.blogspot.com/2007_01_01_archive.html

Wednesday, January 31, 2007. Did you know that every year 4 million babies die within the first month of life? That is equivalent to the number of babies born in the United States annually. 99 % of these deaths are in developing countries. Half of those babies die within the first 24 hours. Three out of four of these newborns could be saved by low-cost solutions. One such solution is knit caps to keep the babies warm. Here's the link to their website. Check it out! Everyone was so nice, and I made a sign...

Broken | Faayth's Weblog

https://faayth.wordpress.com/2011/05/16/broken

Just another WordPress.com weblog. May 16, 2011. In 2004, I met and married my husband. We were both active duty Army, and shortly after our marriage, we were stationed in Germany. In the early months of 2005, we discovered to our great fear and delight that we were expecting our first child. Most of the pregnancy went well, with a few scares, and concerns raised by me to be pooh-poohed by my doctor, only to discover later that they had been valid concerns. At Heidelberg, I was seen by an amazing woman, ...

Nittany Knits: March 2007

http://nittanyknits.blogspot.com/2007_03_01_archive.html

Wednesday, March 28, 2007. The Knitting Marathon lasted 11.5 hours and, true to form, more laughing than knitting was done. The Lakeside Cafe was quick to tell us that Miss Christine, Miss Sheila and myself were 36 hours early for our regular sit 'n knit, not that they were counting or anything. Four hours and 24 rows of my sock later, I determined that 1 row of knitting was taking me 10 minutes to knit. I have reached a new low in productivity! The last sit 'n knit I crashed for the night was at an loca...

Nittany Knits: June 2007

http://nittanyknits.blogspot.com/2007_06_01_archive.html

Friday, June 29, 2007. I'm very happy to report that the 'Clapotis' is finished and at Glowing Kay's house being blocked (for the low low price of a lovely Riesling). I have since started a purse for my mother that was actually a Mother's Day present made out of yarn I purchased at Stitches 2006. I haven't seen her in person since prior to Mother's Day, and did send her a backup present to make up for the fact that her purse was still not in her possession (let alone even cast on yet! We've had to get sp...

Nittany Knits: September 2006

http://nittanyknits.blogspot.com/2006_09_01_archive.html

Saturday, September 30, 2006. A huge Thank You goes out to javajem for putting this blog together to get the word out about the Kni-A-Thon. Anyone who knows me knows that this whole blogging thing is far beyond my capabilities on the computer. Not only that, how can you all be knitting if you are blogging? Posted by Nittany Knits at 9:22 PM. So what are these door prizes that have been donated by local yarn stores and businesses? Thank You to all businesses for showing their support by hanging flyers in ...
