The View From Over The Handlebars. A tale of my two-wheeled (mis)-adventures. Saturday, February 27, 2010. 3000 Mile Service and Issaquah, Washington. I was told the service would take about an hour, so I took the opportunity to walk around Issaquah. With my camera. Right next to I-90 Motorsports. Is a drive-in restaurant that serves up burgers 1950's style, with a lot of music and motorsports. I call this "getting your ducks in a row":. By the time I get back, my Triumph is ready, with new oil but they ...

The View From Over The Handlebars. A tale of my two-wheeled (mis)-adventures. Sunday, March 28, 2010. 2009 Triumph Bonneville America - 3500 Mile Report. Actually, a little over 3500 miles. With the mild weather I have been able to get more riding time than I could have imagined. I thought it would be a good time to post my observations on my Triumph Bonneville America. Gear, the America never feels buzzy. Gas Mileage - I get from the low to mid 40's on the America, with a mix of street and freeway riding.

Musings of an Intrepid Commuter: Comfort Zone Cages
http://intrepidcommuter.blogspot.com/2013/11/comfort-zone-cages.html
Musings of an Intrepid Commuter. Life and Laughs from a Road Warrior by Dan Bateman. Thursday, November 07, 2013. Sometimes comfort zones can be good things and other times they can become cages. In the course of writing this blog I've tried to be honest about my own humanity. In that vein I have to admit that I've felt that feeling of not wanting to let go. Here's an example. I'm in a small upstairs gym at an athletic club. One question is repeatedly bouncing around inside my head. Katie was looking me ...

The View From Over The Handlebars: Look What Followed Me Home

The View From Over The Handlebars. A tale of my two-wheeled (mis)-adventures. Sunday, June 13, 2010. Look What Followed Me Home. I am now the proud owner of a bike that's been on my wish list for some time - a 1987 Honda Super Magna. I love the 80's power cruisers, such as the Magnas. And Eliminator, and the Super Magna. Is special since this particular design was only made for two years - 1987 and 1988. Here are some specifications on this bike:. In 1987, the US model's 700 cc engine produced 80 bhp.

The View From Over The Handlebars: Let it Shine
http://thescooterchronicles.blogspot.com/2010/04/let-it-shine.html
The View From Over The Handlebars. A tale of my two-wheeled (mis)-adventures. Monday, April 26, 2010. As I mentioned in my earlier post, I have begun the process of increasing the chances that I will be seen on the road, or " conpiscuity. On the rear, I have replaced the stock brake light with Kisan's. Here is the link to their site - https:/ www.kisantech.com/index.php? The best thing about the model I got is that it is "plug and play" - I simply replaced my existing bulb with the Tailblazer. I have the...

The View From Over The Handlebars: January 2010

The View From Over The Handlebars. A tale of my two-wheeled (mis)-adventures. Friday, January 29, 2010. The Grass Usually Isn't Greener. Today I rode into work. A bit cold in the morning, and very windy along the I-90 corridor, but it was nice to commute into Seattle on the Triumph. Rain was forecast for the afternoon, but for the most part I was dry on the return trip. On the way home, I decided to stop in at I-90 Motorsports. In addition to selling ATV's. Why did I stop there? I am short of leg, and wh...

The View From Over The Handlebars. A tale of my two-wheeled (mis)-adventures. Tuesday, July 28, 2009. Lovely Spam, Wonderful Spam! I really like Spam. Growing up, I ate Spam and rice, Spam and eggs and Spam sandwiches. I like it cooked (fried) or plain right out of the can. I'm a Spam lover from the old school - I remember when the tin came with a key that you used to open the can with. On the last day of my visit I went to the Wailana. And, of course, Spam. Lovely! Links to this post. After completing m...

Musings of an Intrepid Commuter. Life and Laughs from a Road Warrior by Dan Bateman. Wednesday, February 27, 2013. Thank you to Andy Goldfine. I was slightly premature when I said I was finally going to have a little more time. Once more I dove headfirst into rewriting a training program for our instructors. These things tend to be a little consuming! Last weekend was the proof in the pudding for this project and I'm pleased to say it's both successful and behind me! Somewhere around a year and a half ag...

Musings of an Intrepid Commuter: November 2011
http://intrepidcommuter.blogspot.com/2011_11_01_archive.html
Musings of an Intrepid Commuter. Life and Laughs from a Road Warrior by Dan Bateman. Monday, November 21, 2011. Cocky with a camera. The day dawned with the reluctance of a hung-over person getting ready for work. No sick days left. The Boss won't buy calling in dead. So it's going to happen. It has to happen. The process will be long and drawn out. Without grace or warmth but with an inevitability that comes from years of routine. Rise and shine? Rising, certainly, but shining? Not so you'd notice.
