Taco Journalism: Tacodeli
http://tacojournalism.blogspot.com/2008/05/tacodeli.html
Wednesday, May 21. All were over $2.50 each. 2 - Lack of significant flavor. Most of the items we tried were really good cuts on meat, but you need a little fat in there to make things special. 35 Stars - jarod. Go back and get the daily special, not the regular menu items. Monday (Cochinita Pibil, which they've inexplicably misspelled on their own site), Tuesday (Achiote Chicken) and Friday (Ceviche) are particularly good. Also, ask for the habanero salsa. They're usually hiding it behind the counter.

Taco Journalism: Coffee Shop Tacos: El Cenote
http://tacojournalism.blogspot.com/2013/02/coffee-shop-tacos-el-cenote.html
Monday, February 4. Coffee Shop Tacos: El Cenote. So here's the thing with coffee shops and tacos. Most of the time, they just don't mix. Not because tacos don't go with a good cup of Joe but because most cafe's around town don't make 'em good. Now the smart coffee shops bring in their tacos from local places and I prefer the ones that go well with my Doña sauce. Just sayin'. 1010 East Cesar Chavez. Austin, TX 78702. Taco Journalism: Porfirio's Tacos
http://tacojournalism.blogspot.com/2007/05/porfirios-tacos.html
Tuesday, May 22. Operating out of a very, very modest storefront near the corner of Holly and Comals Sts. just east of downtown Austin, Porfirio's offers breakfast tacos and lunch plates from 6am to 1pm monday through saturday. I guess if you looked at the picture, you already knew that. I missed the Porfirio's truck after I moved on to non-downtown job opportunities, so I was quite chuffed when I recently drove by their practically hidden store front on the east side. All of the standard breakfast tacos...

Taco Journalism: Mi Madre's For Breakfast
http://tacojournalism.blogspot.com/2008/05/mi-madres-for-breakfast.html
Monday, May 19. Mi Madre's For Breakfast. Photo of #0 from doggedknits.com. Mi Madre's is an East Austin Legend, serving up delicious, authentic mexican food on Manor Road for quite some time. There are a lot of johnny come lately taco vendors on Manor nowadays, but Mi Madre's is still running the show. The Migas are also terrific. I suggest getting a migas taco to go along with your machacado or #0. Mi Madre's also serves lunch. UPDATE: Helpful commenter, Bryan, says: 'One correction: they don't serve d...

Taco Journalism: Zocalo
http://tacojournalism.blogspot.com/2007/09/zocalo.html
Tuesday, September 4. Jarod and I set out for lunch at Zocalo quite hungry and not exactly sure what to expect. This hip new taco joint in west Austin occupies a building that has housed the Cosmic Cafe and the legendary vegetarian haven, the West Lynn Cafe. Would this upscale west-side place be able to deliver the goods? On arriving, I was immediately impressed with the sharp, minimalist decor and the fancy plates. The place looked great, at least! The homemade chips were lovely. Some may find them ...

Taco Journalism: Habanero Mexican Cafe
http://tacojournalism.blogspot.com/2007/10/habanero-mexican-cafe.html
Tuesday, October 9. I had never been to Habanero Mexican Cafe until Jarod, The Commish and myself decided to try out some South First joints as our taco map was looking pretty east side heavy. As we fought our way through construction zone traffic hell to get there, I found myself wishing that we'd just gone somewhere on the east side again. Now that I mention it, the service was actually quite good. Our waitress was friendly and we were never out of drinks or salsa. Nice. Viva la Revolucion Harina!

Taco Journalism: TacoCast: Veracruz All Natural
http://tacojournalism.blogspot.com/2010/04/tacocast-all-natural-veracruz.html
Tuesday, April 27. TacoCast: Veracruz All Natural. You saw it here on TacoJournalism - our first TacoCast, inspired by the NY Times slidecasts. A little rough around the edges and straight from my basic iMovies editor. I wanted to show the taco love a little different this time so I dabbled a bit, added some good looking fotos and cool musica by local indie Latino band, Maneja Beto. So here's my TacoCast of Veracruz All Natural. They good! 4 Stars - El Mundo de Mando. 1704 E. Cesar Chavez. 1/1/14, 2:58 PM.
