Wednesday, August 05, 2015. THR 13 months (and one day). August 5, 2015. Thirteen months after my hip replacement, everything is tickety-boo. Despite rotten weather and lots of moving about I've been able to add more and more kms to the hip:. May - 49 km. June - 79 km. July - 63 km (including the first cycling). Roadspill: August 2014

http://roadspill.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html

Sunday, August 31, 2014. Sunday, August 31, 2014. The last day of August. and it feels like the first day of fall or West Coast winter! Cool Dark. Rainy. I think I'll stay inside and let her be the hero. I think I'll stay inside. At least for now. 167;§§. I'm not sure how I'm going to handle footwear given that my post-op restrictions mean I can't bend forward enough to tie my shoes. 167;§§. I had a great sleep last night. Woke up a couple of times, but didn't get up until 8:15am. That's amazing! It feel...

Roadspill: September 2014

http://roadspill.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html

Monday, September 29, 2014. Monday, September 29, 2014:. A rainy day in Vancouver. with lots on the agenda. Up early to return rental car to the North Shore. Then back to the Vancouver housesit. I spent much of the day pitching stories and working on Wednesday's item - which I finished. Got physio done before 10pm, but - alas - I didn't get a chance to have dinner. Guess rice cakes and hummus will suffice. Exercise: some walking, some stairs, ALL the physio. Monday, September 29, 2014. Here are some pix:.

Roadspill: The First Bit

http://roadspill.blogspot.com/2015/07/the-first-bit.html

Wednesday, July 29, 2015. I haven't written much because there isn't really a lot to report. I'm settling in to the country house and quite enjoying the peace and quiet. As mentioned, I'm about 4km from town (8km round-trip). For my first load of groceries, I walked to town and then took a taxi home (€5). Cycle Boy in Kinvara. I still haven't gone to the pub in Kinvara. Mostly it's an issue of timing. The places I want to go open at 5, and the weather has been crap to walk in around that time&#46...The i...

Roadspill: May 2015

http://roadspill.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html

Monday, May 04, 2015. May 4, 2015. Well, today marks 10 months since my hip replacement. All good. I still have stiffness if I sit poorly (on bad furniture) or for long durations, but other than that, no problems. My right hand is still messed up, but functions. I don't know if it's getting any better as the fingers still 'hang'. But things seem to work. The right shoulder is better, although there are the occasional twinges of pain. Methinks that's from too much computering. And so it goes! Countries vi...

Roadspill: Lazy Sunday

http://roadspill.blogspot.com/2015/07/lazy-sunday.html

Sunday, July 19, 2015. July 19, 2015. As the title suggests, it was a lazy Sunday. I had a fitful sleep thanks to the never ending drip, drip, drip of my nose. Plus sneezing and coughing and a general malaise. I spent the early part of the day puttering. Unpacking stuff and moving it around. I caught up on emails and blogs and posting photos. I did a little bit of work (if I do two more items then I have no deadlines until early August). I attacked a pile of dishes and created a new one. I'm actually fee...

World Wide Murman: Believe -Part 2- Sister Surprise

http://choppermurman.blogspot.com/2011/09/believe-part-2-sister-surprise.html

Tuesday, September 06, 2011. Believe -Part 2- Sister Surprise. It was after midnight when our wheels touched down on the cold dark tarmac of Moncton Airport. Our flight had been delayed slightly and I was worried that perhaps the folks at Avis might have called it a night, stranding me and my excited mother, in Moncton for the night. But it was not to be, a friendly Maritime smile was waiting at the rent-a-car desk and we were quickly on our way to Saint John. The door only opens 2 inches and comes to a ...

World Wide Murman: July 2012

Sunday, July 08, 2012. A Little Boy Once More. Set the "Way Back" machine to the 1960's. At that time there were many TV programs that a young fellow like me loved because they took you away to a world so alien, so fantastic that they became the stuff of dreams. Flipper. Are just two examples that I enjoyed weekly. I would spend hours pretending to "skin dive" with Flipper or search an undersea wreck with the Bridges brothers. Always looking for that great adventure beneath the sea. Years went by but I n...

http://writeronthestorm.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html

Writer on the storm: the Canada chronicles. The road less traveled. Friday, February 19, 2010. Chapter 65: who are we? The last week of unbridled patriotism has really left me wondering: who are we? We can have our hearts broken. We can proudly wear the maple leaf and not apologize. but everyone's invited all the same. We aren't just happy to be here. We expect the best of ourselves, and respect from others. We aren't as quiet and unassuming as the world thought we were. We are not american. Me, me, me!

World Wide Murman: Below VFR

http://choppermurman.blogspot.com/2012/11/below-vfr.html

Friday, November 02, 2012. Reassignments, maintenance and weather. These are few of my least favorite things, , , when it comes to spending time aboard my magic flying machine, Chopper 9. In fact I have not logged a single flight hour since Aug. of this year. One might call it a drought or bad luck. I call it refocusing. The weeks leading up to this "drought" brought questions to whether I really wanted to continue with being a part of this program. Had I had enough of flying? Had it stopped being fun?

http://choppermurman.blogspot.com/2012/03/me-my-son-gopro-and-whistler-perfect.html

Friday, March 02, 2012. Me, my son, the GoPro and Whistler = Perfect Day. Please enjoy, and thanks for stopping by. Have you seen the quikpod - its so awesome - you can take pictures and be in them! I ended up using the ski pole because none of the dealers in Whistler had any helmut mounts left. So I had to improvise. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. World Wide Murman: AIR POWER

http://choppermurman.blogspot.com/2012/08/air-power.html

Sunday, August 19, 2012. Thankfully these things come to an end eventually and my last flight rotation marked that end. For a couple of days I thought the good old days of flight were back. The assignments were not anything to get too excited about, and a couple didn't make air, but they did put a smile on this old puss and reminded me just how fortunate I am when it is all said and done. Last week happened to be Air Show week at nearby Abbotsford. Some of you may remember a story about Mach Daddy. Stef ...
