The Birding Adventures of Rocky Cairn. This journal is running backwards, read on. Monday, July 31, 2006. Put them out and they will come. It’s been a fun summer watching the birds find the bird bath. This morning there was a cute little chipmunk taking a drink. It is a bit of a hassle keeping the birdbath clean; you should change the water daily and scrub out the scum in the hot weather. I’ve been trying to keep up and it is worth the reward. Fun Times! The Birding Adventures of Rocky Cairn. This journal is running backwards, read on. Friday, May 04, 2007. This morning there were large white shapes on the other side of Baylis Bay on Crane Lake. Upon further investigation with my bins I saw they were 2 Swans! It seems the Trumpeter Swan population in Minnesota is growing and the resulting problem for the Swans is finding adequate nesting territory. The Birding Adventures of Rocky Cairn. This journal is running backwards, read on. Saturday, April 14, 2007. Thursday afternoon I drove by the Osprey nest in the big swamp right by the Nelson Road and the Osprey was back on the nest! I do, and the notes revealed that the Osprey returned April 11th, 2006. They returned this year on the 12th. But the weather was so different last year. The ice was ready to go out anyday and this year the ice is still 24 inches thick. Posted by Rocky @ 5:32 AM.

I just had to go out and see if I could see the Robin that was chipping loudly in the next yard. Yes, it was a Robin! He was perched at the very top of a Spruce tree.
