One of my favourite shots from the trip. I am now back in Lima with one day to shop and sightsee before flying home tomorrow. I will see Chris and Caroline at the airport before they fly to Madrid and me to Amsterdam. I have no idea how I will get all this luggage home - all those pan pipes and scratchy jumpers! Monday, 1 December 2008. Amazon Hope and Puno continued. Italo the Engineer kept everything running and fixed things for us including my bent glasses. Jorge and Jimmy kept everything clean. As I said I ended up helping Carlos most days. And seemed to spend a lot of time looking for him. Eventually I asked for the Spanish for ´Where is Carlos? 180; It became my catchphrase Donde este Carlos? As it was relayed from person to person through the boat. The crew found it amusing. Tuesday, 16 December 2008. Hiking to Machu Picchu. Me at Machu Picchu with Inca Trail Bum Bag! I had also noticed that there were beds in the building - soft beds - with mattresses and pillow. Wednesday, 10 December 2008. Just a little note. Travelled from Lima this morning and going to the Sacred Valley tomorrow. We start the Inca Trail on Friday and arrive at Machu Picchu on Monday. Thursday, 11 December 2008. We arrived in Cusco on Wednesday to a very nice hotel. After lunch and a siesta we visited the central market. Really colourful. We had dinner in a posh restaurant which cost around 8 pounds. Packed our bags for Machu Picchu. 5k only for the porters plus whatever we want to carry ourselves.
