One of the main attractions are the hundreds of bird species that inhabit the exuberant protected forest, aside from the agoustis, ant-eaters, armadillos and deer. One of the two LEK (a place of courtship and reproduction among birds) registered in Ecuador as pertaining to the Umbrellabird Longuipendulo, is found within the reserve.
