Saturday, 31 May 2014. The Power of People. Starting up your own business is a scary, exciting and costly thing to do. And it always helps when you have moral support and of course financial. At your first steps, having someone believe in you enough to invest in your business, and in you, is a wonderful, uplifting, confidence-boosting thing. So, I'm absolutely thrilled to tell you that recently I started a Kickstarter campaign. Unfortunately the light was not as bright and beautiful as during my last upd...

The Cryptozoologist | UK Personal & Craft Blog: October 2013
http://thecryptozoologistyarn.blogspot.com/2013_10_01_archive.html
Tuesday, 29 October 2013. My reading this month has been absolutely pathetic. I've been really struggling with my chronic fatigue this month, so haven't had much brainpower for reading. So, even the books that I have read are generally 'easy' reading. I'd been so excited about getting The Line Between. I don't really have anything to say about the Made In Chelsea. Book, other than MIC is a guilty pleasure for me, and the book was just so-so. It's a preview copy that my husband brought home from work ...

The Cryptozoologist | UK Personal & Craft Blog: Some Knitting News
http://thecryptozoologistyarn.blogspot.com/2012/12/some-knitting-news.html
Saturday, 29 December 2012. I've been knitting absolutely loads over the Christmas break, and I've started some really exciting patterns, but one of my favourite, enduring patterns is Tiny Owl Knits' Beekeeper's Quilt. It's a very long-term project, needing around 350 of the little hexagonal puffs (or hexipuffs). But I've been getting on brilliantly, and have even designed some of my own 'puffs! You can download them for free over at my Ravelry shop Louise Lavender Designs. 2 January 2013 at 06:08. Merma...

Tuesday, 19 August 2014. Behind the Business: Balancing Chronic Fatigue and Dyeing. I need to start this post by saying I'm not an expert. I still mess up. I'm a perfectionist and tend to work myself hard to hit personal goals. But, that being said I do want to discuss the impact CFS has on being self-employed and also vice versa. I had a little parachute money to take some time out of work, and if during that time I put some yarn up on Etsy, where was the harm? I will not dye more than three times a week.

Monday, 17 November 2014. A Celebration and Competition! I'm so sorry it's been such a long time since I posted. Things (or rather people) haven't been well in the Lavender household. But I don't want to focus on that, instead let's focus on the fact that my little Etsy shop hit 60 sales this week! Actually 62, so extra yays). So, why not head over there for your chance to win the skein? Finally, there will be a shop update tonight, you can get 10% off all skeins with the code: 60sale. This time of year ...

Interviews and Guest Posts. Monday, 31 October 2016. REVIEW: Tales of Horror by Edgar Allan Poe. Shall we talk about a spoopy read? Horror, Short Stories. Immensely popular both during and after his lifetime, and a powerful influence on generations of writers and film-makers to this day, Edgar Allan Poe is still counted among the greatest short-story writers of all time and seen as one of the initiators of the detective, horror and science-fiction genres. Saturday, 29 October 2016. As you probably alread...

The Cryptozoologist | UK Personal & Craft Blog: January 2014

Thursday, 30 January 2014. I think failing my 2013 reading goals must have really lit a fire underneath me! This month it seems like I have steamed through books - some great, some not so great. But, all this manic reading means at the moment I am 3 books ahead of my 2014 goal of 100 books. But I'm not going to get lazy, I was ahead of my target this time last year, and it didn't end so well. So, here's to dedicating more time to reading this year! Jumped on the bandwagon and read City of Bones. Review o...
