Judy Down Under: HOME AT LAST
http://judydownunderadventure.blogspot.com/2010/05/home-at-last.html
Tuesday, May 11, 2010. I left Sydney, Australia, at 1:50 pm on Sunday, May 9, 2010, (Mother's Day). The flight took 12 1/2 hrs and during that time I watched 4 movies; read; ate dinner, a snack, and breakfast; and dozed on and off when I could. Arriving at LAX, I had to go through immigration, pick up my suitcases, go through customs, give my suitcases back, walk to the next terminal, go back through security and walk to the farthest gate (why do you always seem to leave from the farthest gate? My trip i...

Judy Down Under: MELBOURNE - PART 2
http://judydownunderadventure.blogspot.com/2010/05/melbourne-part-2.html
Thursday, May 6, 2010. MELBOURNE - PART 2. On Monday, I took a one-hour cruise on the Yarra River and then did a 1/2 day City tour. I really enjoyed Melbourne - it is laid out so well that it is very easy to get around and so many things are within walking distance! There is also a free City Circle Tram that goes around the City. Fitzroy Gardens is a haven on the edge of the city. Set aside as a public reserve in 1848, the 26 hectare site. John F. Kennedy Memorial. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Judy Down Under: March 2010
http://judydownunderadventure.blogspot.com/2010_03_01_archive.html
Tuesday, March 30, 2010. THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO. We were surprised after the movie started that the actors were speaking Swedish and the English was subtitled at the bottom of the screen. It was a three-hour movie but it did not seem like three hours at all and it wasn't very long into the movie and you forgot you were reading the sub-titles. The movie stayed very true to the book I am happy to say and we all enjoyed it. Monday, March 29, 2010. BATS IN THE BELFRY (NEWCASTLE). First discovered th...

Judy Down Under: MELBOURNE - PART 1
http://judydownunderadventure.blogspot.com/2010/05/melbourne-part-1.html
Wednesday, May 5, 2010. MELBOURNE - PART 1. On Saturday, May 1, 2010, Scott, Juliet and I traveled by plane to Melbourne for a 3-night stay. After checking into the hotel, we decided to walk over to the Eureka Tower and visit the Skydeck to get a 360 degree view of Melbourne. It was pretty funny! The Eureka Tower and Skydeck 88. This "elevator shaft" was actually painted on the floor of the tower elevator - pretty cool! Skyline view from Skydeck. Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre. Federation Square is ...

Judy Down Under: February 2010
http://judydownunderadventure.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html
Sunday, February 28, 2010. After sleeping in some on Sunday morning, we headed over to the home of Juliet's brother (Daniel) and sister-in-law (Nicole) for homemade scones, cream and jam and some good conversation and fun with the children. The scones were DELICIOUS - thank you Daniel! What a wonderful way to start off the day. If we can pull it together, we all decided it would be fun to go to Sydney for a weekend together and do the zoo and aquarium, among other things. Here is a preview:. The tourist ...

Judy Down Under: April 2010
http://judydownunderadventure.blogspot.com/2010_04_01_archive.html
Thursday, April 29, 2010. ANZAC DAY - SUNDAY, APRIL 25, 2010. We went to the RSL. Club at 7:00 am for breakfast and there were already masses of men and women drinking beer! Depending on how they were betting. If you wanted to bet $5 on heads, you would take your five dollar bill and wave it on your head, yelling $5.00. The person betting on heads, would hold the money until the coins both came up heads or tails and a winning spin was declared. People were betting $5, $10, $20 and even $5...One boy of ab...

Judy Down Under: MELBOURNE - PART 3
http://judydownunderadventure.blogspot.com/2010/05/melbourne-part-3.html
Thursday, May 6, 2010. MELBOURNE - PART 3. Our first stop on the tour was to Bells Beach, famous for its international surfing competion and its feature in the movie, Point Break. We stopped at Great Otway National Park, Maits Rest Rainforest Walkway, which offers spectacular views of huge, extremely old tree ferns, Myrtle Beech, towering Mountain Ash and Blackwood trees. It was very exciting to actually see kaolas in the wild! Views from Cape Patton Lookout. The views of the coastline was magnificent an...

Judy Down Under: January 2010
http://judydownunderadventure.blogspot.com/2010_01_01_archive.html
Friday, January 29, 2010. A NEW CHAPTER IN MY LIFE. To my blog detailing my 3-month trip to Australia, the land of down under. I hope you will enjoy reading about my journey and viewing the pictures that I post. As most of you know, last Friday, January 29, 2010, I officially retired from Western Industrial where I have worked for 8 years. I don't think that has sunk in yet but perhaps when I don't have to get up early every day next week reality will start to set in. I might have to start drinking wine!
