Scribblings from Jumbunna: Another Goodbye

http://www.scribblingsfromjumbunna.blogspot.com/2014/07/another-goodbye.html

Tuesday, July 1, 2014. Last week my friend from childhood years passed away after a very short illness, weeks shy of her 66th birthday. She married just 4 days before dying, a bedside ceremony complete with the dog as a witness. Teddy settling into his new home. Less than a week later she was admitted to hospital with complications from the lung biopsy she'd had the day after her visit to me. She expected to go home the next day, as did the doctor! Our friendship began in 1. We both loved dogs, and both ...

Sunday, March 16, 2014. Yesterday I learned that a favourite Old Wares shop here in town will soon close its doors permanently, but "every cloud has a silver lining" with the shopkeeper announcing a make-me-an-offer sale! Not being comfortable doing that, I asked her the price of various bits n bobs, nearly falling over at the massive discounts on offer! This sale has been going for 6 days BUT I didn't know until today, so the shop is emptying fast :(. This morning I returned to collect a Johnson. An eas...

Sunday, June 15, 2014. 1964 - The Beatles. Can it really be FIFTY years ago today (almost to the hour) that I sat in the front row of The Beatles concert at Festival Hall in Melbourne? The stage was getting closer and closer then, to my shock, the man in white indicated an empty seat in the FRONT ROW for ME,. And my cousin sat directly behind me. I could not believe my luck. Yeah, Yeah, Yeah! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile. Peas in a Pod. Havin' a laugh ! The mystery climbing rose.

Saturday, February 8, 2014. The Year in Books - February. With thanks, Mr Google Images). Last month I read THIS. Post by Bobo Bun and it really hit a nerve - in fact it could have been written about ME! I have been full of good intentions to join The Year In Books. But once again Chronic Procrastination stepped in the way and I didn't join up in January. I actually read a book last month - the very forgettable, A World Of Other People. Any wonder I battled chillblains every winter back then. By Brenda N...

Scribblings from Jumbunna: The long weekend that wasn't..

http://www.scribblingsfromjumbunna.blogspot.com/2014/07/the-long-weekend-that-wasnt.html

Sunday, July 20, 2014. The long weekend that wasn't. Last month we planned a four-day break in the Central Goldfields area. Both our mothers were born in Bendigo and their families' residing in the area harks right back to the gold-rush days and we were looking forward to doing the nostalgia thing. Lunch was had at quaint tea rooms overlooking the magnificent old buildings in View Street. The magnificent Capitol Theatre now known as the Performing Arts Centre. Lunch was enjoyed by a log fire -. My older ...

Zaranne Handmade: the winter garden

http://zaranne-handmade.blogspot.com/2015/07/the-winter-garden.html

Thursday, 30 July 2015. Our new home brought with it a new garden. a lovely level block with a good few established fruit tress and plenty of shrubs and succulents (and the simply stunning Sturt Desert Peas sprouting under the Hills Hoist). One of the first things on our 'to do' list was to get a few plants in the ground so they could get growing and producing. Vegie seeds are planted in a concrete sink topped with an old window. We've fertilised, pruned and mulched the oranges, lemon, cumquot and fig.

Zaranne Handmade: June 2015

http://zaranne-handmade.blogspot.com/2015_06_01_archive.html

Friday, 12 June 2015. Things have been a bit quiet here on the blog of late, but it's not been quiet in life's happenings. And today we got to pick up the keys and have a good look around. The house is a simple 2 bedroom home with mostly original mint-coloured kitchen and bathroom and a quaint outdoor (part of the back verandah) laundry and second loo. There's a mismatch of carpets, cream paint and a rather unsightly suspended ceiling but the bones are good and as I look around all I see is potential.

Scribblings From A Broad. Ramblings from a fevered imagination. Fat – A Weighty Issue. So surfing the internet the other day, I came across a video clip of the singer Jamelia on ITV's Loose Women programme, expounding her views on shops providing fat people with clothing.
