It is habitual, at least it seems to be for me. I think he was closer to the truth. All these reasons, these excuses were so rehearsed, so planned that I began to believe them. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit. -Aristotle. They way we cling to a certain thing, as it slowly becomes our life. (Or at least a major part of it) I also find it funny the way one habit builds off of a current one.
