Please click here to download the latest release of AxiSEM, v.1.1 (Sep 09, 2014). AxiSEM is a parallel spectral-element method for 3D (an-)elastic, anisotropic and acoustic wave propagation in spherical domains. It requires axisymmetric background models and runs within a 2D computational domain, thereby reaching all desired highest observable frequencies (up to 2Hz) in global seismology. The Fortran2003 (OpenMP, MPI) code scales very well on supercomputers and is available here. Under the GPL license.

The focus area is the study of earthquakes and mapping of subsurface structures. These studies form the basis of localising earthquakes in Denmark and Greenland and analysing connections between the Earth s interior structure and changes in the Earth s surface. Earthquake studies are also a vital part in assessing the risk of major construction projects and the politically important task of monitoring the international ban on nuclear tests.
