Doddigunta, Cox Town, Bangalore. Profile of the men in the slum. Profile of the women in the slum. The rapid loss of childhood forces them to ‘grow up’ faster than they can to deal with an adult world that they are not equipped to navigate in. We see this as a tragic violation of a child’s right to his or her childhood. When they are deprived of the natural stages of development and the parents are ignorant, they miss valuable opportunities to an education and a better way of life.

The MEG school was initially run by the Indian Army and exclusively admitted children of the Army personnel. However, as time passed, the number of children coming from the slums had outnumbered them and due to this, the Army had decided to shut down the school, as they believed it to be a lost cause.
