Princess of Bob

Saturday, May 28, 2011. Hey, Big Tuna! It doesn't look like much - but underneath all that ice is the prettiest tuna steak I've ever seen. Tonight's dinner is going to ROCK. Which is good, because the last few days have been rough. Links to this post. Tuesday, April 26, 2011. How do you DO that? Has been publishing a plethora of historic patterns - from the Medieval era through the mid 20th century. There's stuff there that the 'Big 3' has NEVER touched - like the 1490's Gown. And a great Waffenrock.

Princess of Bob: Homemade fabric FTW!

http://www.silverstah.blogspot.com/2011/02/homemade-fabric-ftw.html

Friday, February 25, 2011. My first weaving project! Ashford rigid heddle loom. Warp is Knitpicks Palette, weft is some handspun that I never was happy with seeing it knitted up. but it weaves nicely! Obviously I need work on my selvedges, but overall I'm fairly pleased with how it's turning out. :). Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Feeling Sheepish - hand-dyed wool roving and hand-spun yarn. Saturday, March 26, 2011. For my theatre's production of. Dancing at Lughnasa,. We're making some pretty nifty period aprons. The costume designer pulled some catalog images from the 1930's and passed them off to me. If you're ever bored, 1930's Sears catalogs are really fascinating glimpses into history - and the ad copy is awesome. Three aprons for 79 cents! Notice the essential coffee in the background. Monday, December 28, 2009. It's a Very Seax -y Christmas! In keeping with last year's tradition of handmade gifts, Himself and I had a handmade Christmas this year. We've been doing it because we've had a couple of really bad years, financially, but honestly I really like doing handmade Christmases so much better. :). For those who are new around these parts, last year he gave me a box. He forged the hinges based on the Mastermyr chest, and. This year he made me this:. Links to this post. Pundit Kitchen:...

Princess of Bob: Elizabethan Coif Project

http://www.silverstah.blogspot.com/2011/04/elizabethan-coif-project.html

Saturday, April 09, 2011. School has been kicking my butt this semester - so instead of having something big in the works, I decided I needed a small, portable project that I could pick up and put down at a moment's notice. I've been wanting to work on my embroidery skills, as well. so I decided to drag out the Elizabethan coif pattern I had purchased a number of years ago. The pattern was redacted by Laura Mellin. And sold through Reconstructing History. I'm using Splendor 12-ply Silk Embroidery Floss.

mystery cycles: Do The Time Warp

http://mysterycycles.blogspot.com/2009/08/do-time-warp.html

Do The Time Warp. Posted by Devin Parker. I've been wanting to create more work to put on my DeviantArt. Page Since that's where I keep my portfolio (it's on my business cards, no less), I figured I'd best try to keep it current. It certainly doesn't hurt to keep the drawing hand fit, and I need all the practice using my Wacom tablet that I can. Sent out a little while ago. This made me laugh out loud. I wish Marilyn had been here in 88.she would have had SUCH a crush! Youre a good egg, Dev :). I may mak...

Handouts and Handy Tricks. Thursday, May 7, 2015. And another on modern undies. To collect images and helpful links, rather than overburdening this page. 1 It appears that "lifted and separated" was the the ideal boob shape for most of the period I am interested in. This really cannot be accomplished with a fitted gown*, which gives you more of a mono-boob shape. Furthermore there is plenty of textual evidence. For breast-shaping garments (and surgery! Medieval Threads: Finished Queen's Shawl

http://medievalthreads.blogspot.com/2014/02/finished-queens-shawl.html

Handouts and Handy Tricks. Monday, February 10, 2014. Hurray for a finished project! I've been running through my list of Things To Do and getting a bit freaked out this week or so (ok, more than a bit freaked out, more like I look at the list and run away and hide) so it's super nice to have a Very Big Thing Indeed crossed off. And with time to spare even! I decided to buckle down this weekend and marathon watched Season 3 of Downton Abbey and the Olympics while I got it done. Wow That is lovely! A mino...

Medieval Threads: April 2015

http://medievalthreads.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html

Handouts and Handy Tricks. Wednesday, April 29, 2015. We had a local event a couple of weeks ago at which my household decided to make a nice period lunch. My contribution was a chicken pie, based on what I had (chicken, bacon and leeks) and several recipes I found at Medieval Cookery. In true period style, I utterly failed to keep track of measurements but here is a pithy recipe for what I came up with. It was really tasty, even cold, and rather like a quiche. Handouts and Handy Tricks. Sunday, January 19, 2014. Shawl for a Queen. Anyway, the upshot of all of this is it's taken me longer to get started on the shawl project than I had planned. But I finally got the Perugia towel. Off my loom, and have started doing the sampling for the shawl on my new table loom! Yay for awesome Christmas presents that make sampling possible! Finished Faux-rugia towel, finally. It's off the loom, washed, and I am actually pretty happy with how it turned out. Yay! 3 - For whatev...

Medieval Threads: November 2013

http://medievalthreads.blogspot.com/2013_11_01_archive.html

Handouts and Handy Tricks. Thursday, November 28, 2013. Following up on my last post, I've finished setting up the warp weighted loom that has now taken over a not insignificant portion of my living room and have actually successfully woven a whole inch of leg wrap! Monday, November 25, 2013. Warping the Warp Weighted Loom. I got a warp weighted loom for my birthday (yay! I do have to say, the 5 inch wide warp looks pretty silly on the 4 foot wide loom, but what are you gonna do? View my complete profile.

Well-Driven Nails: Clearing up at least one issue

http://welldrivennails.blogspot.com/2009/03/clearing-up-at-least-one-issue.html

Pursuing wisdom through words - "The words of the wise are like goads, and the words of scholars are like well-driven nails, given by one Shepherd." - Eccl 12:11. Friday, March 20, 2009. Clearing up at least one issue. It has been suggested to me on more than one occassion by more than one person that perhaps we could consider living in or near the mountains and I could take the Metrolink in to work. I'll just say it right now, it's not going to happen, and here's why. 6:50 pm Arrive San Bernardino.

The Sojourner Chronicle: The Choice 2012

http://sojournerchronicle.blogspot.com/2012/11/the-choice-2012.html

Monday, November 05, 2012. This feels short and simplistic, but longer disquisitions are likely to go unread and become overly complicated. I’m unlikely to be swayed by arguments attempting to change my mind on these issues before tomorrow: what I’m trying to decide is which presidential candidate I would be happier to see in office. You know what gets my goat, though? I haven’t figured that out yet. What is it that ultimately scares me? So: what do I do on Tuesday? I love this, and I appreciate your gen...
