Where did all this happen? This area in which the Siwanoy and Wappinger people's lived is called the Pelham Bay area of the Bronx and Pelham in Westchester County. Once upon a time this area was called The Pelhams. It was named after Thomas Pell. Thomas Pell signed a treaty buying 50,000 acres of this land (from Pelham Bay - The Bronx - to up north to New Rochelle, Pelham, and Eastchester). Who were the Siwanoy people? The Siwanoy Indian Tribe was part of The Algonquian people. Who were also called the Wappinger. These people were not as organized as many of the Native American people who lived in the Midwest and the West. They were actually not organized at all but part of a bigger number of tribes on the East Coast. They most closely resemble and were probably most similar to the Lenape people.
