Small Town, Little Rock: May 2010
http://smalltownlittlerock.blogspot.com/2010_05_01_archive.html
Small Town, Little Rock. Monday, May 31, 2010. I'll simply leave you with a quote from President Dwight D. Eisenhower, as he visited Omaha Beach on the 20th anniversary of D-Day. I came across it reading the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette's Memorial Day editorial:. Friday, May 28, 2010. Ah, to be an FOB. Everyone in Arkansas is a Friend of Bill. An FOB. (I mean, you knew what that stood for, right? At one point, the bridge was named the Rock Island Bridge, after a railroad line that owned it. But in recen...

Letters from the far side of the sea. Posted by: Devi Duerrmeier. My lips don’t lie. Colombo, Sri Lanka. I remember wandering around the vast aisles of the Wal-Mart in Newton, Kansas and wondering what kind of chapstick to buy before being somewhat overwhelmed by the choices and deciding not to get anything at all. Instead I had a short chat with God about it. I think it went something along the lines of, “God, I need some lip balm, can you do something about it? Is that how it goes with you? I stumbled ...

Small Town, Little Rock: Bye, Bye Little Rock
http://smalltownlittlerock.blogspot.com/2010/09/bye-bye-little-rock.html
Small Town, Little Rock. Friday, September 3, 2010. Bye, Bye Little Rock. First, I'd like to say how excited I am that Samantha had such a great first trip to Fayetteville. We owe her and the traveling party a big thank you for spending their Saturday night to ensure the Razorbacks reached Bowl eligibility with their victory over the pipsqueaks from Troy. I've bumped into her a few times since her trek down 540 . she cannot stop calling the hogs and singing the fight song. It's been great! Thank you for ...

Small Town, Little Rock: As Rosh Hashanah Dawns, We Support the Troops
http://smalltownlittlerock.blogspot.com/2010/08/as-rosh-hashanah-dawns-we-support.html
Small Town, Little Rock. Thursday, August 19, 2010. As Rosh Hashanah Dawns, We Support the Troops. This time two years ago, someone very dear to me was preparing to depart on a year deployment with the U.S. Army to Iraq. Whether or not you "support" the wars or the reasons we're fighting them, everyone supports the troops. I'm glad I found one way particularly meaningful to me to show it. Small Town, Little Rock. Wednesday, August 25, 2010. North Little Rock Finds its Cool. Thanks NYT. I think the more appropriate headline, however, would be: NYT finds North Little Rock, which was of course cool all along. Still, love it when this town makes it into that rag from NYC! Smile! Its Becky!: Not Me Monday!
http://smileitsbecky.blogspot.com/2010/01/not-me-monday_11.html
Monday, January 11, 2010. I did not spend all of Saturday in my PJ's, get up shower, go to a movie, and then come back home and put my pj's back on. I did not call my friends over to play The New Super Mario Bro's Wii into wee hours of the night. and we certainly are not in our 30's. I am not stuck on level 6! I am not thinking about calling some kids over to play with us. just to get past that stinking level. I am not addicted to Words With Friends on my itouch. How sweet is that? Thanks for the comment!

Small Town, Little Rock: Country Music 101
http://smalltownlittlerock.blogspot.com/2010/08/country-music-101.html
Small Town, Little Rock. Monday, August 23, 2010. A wise friend and lifelong Arkansan told me, "All country music is about cheatin', drinkin', or lovin.' And every song tells a story, so listen to the lyrics.". A couple months ago, I figured it was about time I learned to appreciate country music, so I drafted some friends into providing me a list of the basics. Results are below. Now, I wonder if said friends might make me a cd of said tunes for a certain upcoming long road trip? Hank Williams Sr and Jr.
