Through the Cooking Glass. Nourishing Traditions Through the Eyes of Brian Glass. Laquo; Sports Drink Revisited. June 1, 2009 by Brian Glass. It has been many moons since I last posted. It will probably be a few more before I get back to serious posting on this blog. I took a job in Denver, CO at the Rocky Mountain News. I put out feelers for jobs in the area, but I ended up taking a position at the Naples Daily News. That said, it has been very difficult to do anything creative at all in the cooking dep...

We Want Organic Food:. Send Us a Tip. What fats or oils are good for me (or not)? September 15, 2007. Here is yet more excellent information about dietary fats and oils that will help in determining what’s best for your body and your growing child’s body. I’m taking this data from the Nourishing Traditions. Cookbook by Sally Fallon with Mary G. Enig, Ph.D. Duck Fat and Goose Fat. Chicken fat is 31% saturated, 49% monounsaturated, including that microbe fighting palmitoleic acid, and 20% polyunsaturated&#...

An Unfortunate and Lengthy Adventure in Misdiagnosis. Viruses and thyroiditis: an update. Leave a comment ». Actually, while I’m still here, Mary Shomon has just posted a link to a virology paper on thyroiditis. I’m very interested in this topic, because I think this is what happened to me. Viral infections are frequently cited as a major environmental factor involved in subacute thyroiditis and autoimmune thyroid diseases […]. Virus-like particles were first demonstrated in the follicular epithelium of ...

I have autoimmune thyroid disease – the proof | Autoimmune Thyroid Disease
https://autoimmunethyroid.wordpress.com/2010/01/24/i-have-autoimmune-thyroid-disease-the-proof
An Unfortunate and Lengthy Adventure in Misdiagnosis. I have autoimmune thyroid disease – the proof. After having a bizarre Christmas period during which I have had to reduce my thyroxine dose to nothing, I trotted off to the GP to ask for thyroid autoantibody tests. I have always had perfect vision. By perfect vision, I mean I can normally see a gnat’s whiskers across a football field. Being a little OCD, this makes specks of dirt annoying! I really don’t want it to get worse. I’ve seen ...8221; My dear...

An Unfortunate and Lengthy Adventure in Misdiagnosis. Archive for August 2009. Leave a comment ». I urge people who have children on the failsafe diet because they are ADHD to read this story, written by a thyroid cancer survivor, who has two hypothyroid children. It will sound familiar to you. Note that her children’s blood tests were inside the normal range, but that thyroid medication still fixed the problem. 30 August, 2009 at 7:57 am. Leave a comment ». 8221; she asked. An Unfortunate and Lengthy Adventure in Misdiagnosis. I am no longer sensitive to amines. So, this blog was supposed to be about food chemical intolerance, and perhaps some readers have thought I’ve gone off-topic over the last few months by talking about my thyroid diagnosis. Since I’ve started having high energy days recently, I’ve been indulging in all kinds of foods that used to be off-limits to me. And ALL FIVE thyroid antibody tests (for both Hashimoto’s and Graves diseases). These are:. You need A...

An Unfortunate and Lengthy Adventure in Misdiagnosis. Archive for September 2009. My adrenal glands have gone on holiday. So this morning I got very stressed, enough to revive me from my stupor, so I thought I’d use this brief period of adrenal sufficiency to write a short update on my progress. Sound familiar to anyone interested in methylation? He told me I needed a letter from Dr S before they would run any tests on me at all, and that I had to go and see a practice partner to authorise the tests when...

Caveman Food: August 2009
http://cavemanfood.blogspot.com/2009_08_01_archive.html
A collection of paleolithic diet recipes and meal photos. Wednesday, August 19, 2009. The primal challenge has been going eh. My digestion has never fully recovered from the Korean debacle and it's getting frustrating. Leaving tomorrow am for vacation (New Mexico and then the Jersey shore) and will be gone for a few weeks. I may have internet access or I may not. Luckily for most of the vacay I will have kitchen access and won't be forced to eat out all the time. :). It's what you're here for, right?
