Monday, August 13, 2012. As I’ve gotten older I’ve had a harder and harder time with the concept of hope. I hope things will work out but I’m not surprised when they don’t. I hope for the best but I prepare for the worst. Because hope is not expectation. Hope contains a small element of doubt. And hope and faith are not the same thing. Faith suggests confidence and assurance. It will all work out in the end! Even if it doesn’t. One can only hope. The opposite of hope is hopelessness. To be without hope.
