In 1968 the music teacher at Alleynes School, Miss Alrene Wainwright Ollie as she was fondly known formed a small group of like minded people to rehearse and perform choral music. Thus was formed the nucleus of what was to become Stone Choral Society. We are a mixed choir of around 70 singers, based in the midlands canal town of Stone in Staffordshire. We are a friendly group, generally performing three or four concerts a year in and around the town. Stone Choral Society and Cantiamo Chamber Choir at their performance of Johnson Requiem. We rehearse on Thursday nights in term time at St Dominic's school hall, and sing a wide range of music, from Bach to Britten, madrigals, folk songs and show tunes.
