studio adventures

Friday, November 14, 2014. I finished quilting the quilt for the wrapped in love group at my former church. I was really pleased with how it turned out. I didn’t select the colors or fabric, the color genius Connie took care of that. I didn’t even pin baste it, I just did the free motion quilting and bound it. It was densely quilted. Here’s how I block a quilt:. The blocking helps to flatten out the lumps that come from dense quilting and somehow, the fibers remember to stay flat in subsequent washings.

studio adventures: October 2014

http://studioadventures-susan.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html

Friday, October 31, 2014. I’ve been watching Jacquie Gering’s. Creative Quilting with your Walking Foot. On Craftsy. (the first project was matchstick quilting) Here are a couple of finishes using different stitches with the walking foot. I quilted the blue scrap quilt with the serpentine stitch. I only quilted it with about a third the rows of stitches she suggested. You can see the texture better on the back. The quilt measures 50” X 64”. Links to this post. Wednesday, October 29, 2014. studio adventures: W.I.P. Wednesday

http://studioadventures-susan.blogspot.com/2014/11/wip-wednesday.html

Wednesday, November 12, 2014. You are going to be seeing a lot of this quilt in Wednesday posts. It’s a commission/gift quilt for someone very dear to me. It’s a king sized quilt in the storm at sea pattern. Lots of measuring, lots of cutting, lots of acute and obtuse angles. I’m using fabrics from Zen Chic’s Figures line. Right now I’m still in the planning stages. This is going to take awhile. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Davidson, NC, United States. View my complete profile. A stitch in dye.

studio adventures: Friday Finishes

http://studioadventures-susan.blogspot.com/2014/09/friday-finishes.html

Friday, September 19, 2014. I have acquired a bit of fabric since last January, but I’m still living off my stash. I recently completed several baby quilts. Quick and fun. Here’s the front and back of a baby quilt that used Angela Water’s Coral pattern. It’s for a dear friend’s first grandchild. I’ve had this fish fabric for years and wanted to try Fresh Lemon’s Lemon Squares pattern. With some Kona solids. I had enough to make two baby quilts. And today on my doorstep I found this! 20 September, 2014.

studio adventures: WIP Wednesday

http://studioadventures-susan.blogspot.com/2014/09/wip-wednesday.html

Wednesday, September 24, 2014. WIP (works in progress). Another Heather Ross collection, this time Briar Rose. I had big ideas to make up the collection in Tula Pink’s City Sampler. I started making the 6” blocks months ago and only managed to make 16 of the 100 blocks. Yesterday I looked at those 16 blocks and decided to add borders and sashing and make a 40” baby quilt. Almost done. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Davidson, NC, United States. View my complete profile. A stitch in dye.

Tom and Susan's Journey December 6-17, 2009. Friday, January 8, 2010. Monday December 14: Petra. Some of the pictures put me in mind of the Vander Laan series that you and Susan taught in Evansville. Seeing the area through your eyes was pleasure and I really enjoyed your sense of humor. Patti Wagon: January 2015

http://allaboardthepattiwagon.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html

Monday, January 19, 2015. In keeping with tradition, here are my 17-word review for 2014's books. See my previous posts here: 2012. Not a great year for reading. I blame that on having a TV for the first time in three years. Here's to 2015 being a bit more philosophical and bit less philistine. Challenging plot; confusing timeline; Sliding Doors-esque, I think; something about Hitler; January was a long time ago. (Liked it, maybe). Summer House with Swimming Pool. A Miracle of Catfish. Another fav, Dicke...
