Stand Up Architecture (SUA). Imagine, Create, Believe. Type / Concept / Model / Programma. Different outputs from Grasshopper are analysed in Maya. I used Maya in combination with the Toi sunsimulator to analyse the open and closed facade by several sun positions and seasons. This are some of the results:. Ecotect is used for Raytracing and the daylightfactors in the open and closed. Ecotect and Maya using to analyse. My idea is to make a parametric model in Grasshopper. Ome pictures of the experiment with the open. From daylight in...

perhaps a better research question | Stand-up Architecture

An introduction to iterative design. Perhaps a better research question. February 8, 2009. Instead of trying to translate art to architecture, a more usable and doable research will be to test how the elements which architecture and art have in common can be used in architecture to communicate. Let’s say there is a program which needs to be placed. Each function has a need for a certain amount of space, volume, and there is a certain hierarchy in them. A hypothesis would be that areas can be separated fr...

First test results | Stand-up Architecture
https://yannickliem.wordpress.com/2009/03/18/first-test-results
An introduction to iterative design. March 18, 2009. Last week I’ve done the first test. I’ve made an animation of my design, and showed it, and four different pieces of music, to a number of four people, and asked them to guess which piece would have been the basis for the architecture. Surprisingly, three out of four chose the same piece! But, they all chose the wrong piece. Which is quite interesting, as the chance of three people choosing that same number, is about 1 in 20.
