Tales of a 5th Grade Teacher

Tales of a 5th Grade Teacher. Wednesday, November 25, 2009. Giving. It's that time of year, my favorite time of year. Thanksgiving is by far my favorite holiday. Time to stop and remember blessings of all sorts. This year, I am thankful:. 1 That I have a job, a home, a car, food, etc. Things that I take for granted daily, but that so many others near and far are without tonight. 2 For a family who never disappoints. They are loving and faithful and wonderful. 5 For children who light up my life. :).

Tales of a 5th Grade Teacher: Want to feel better about yourself?

http://www.talesofa5thgradeteacher.blogspot.com/2009/10/want-to-feel-better-about-yourself.html

Tales of a 5th Grade Teacher. Wednesday, October 21, 2009. Want to feel better about yourself? I just found this website: http:/ www.iamneurotic.com/. I went to laugh at how crazy other people are and then realized how many of those neuroses I shared. You can click a button if you agree. Here are some of mine that are absolutely ridiculous:. 2 I eat my hamburgers in a round. I eat the edges first, then eat the middle. Also, I always take a bite from the top left of my sandwich first. Ew My dad used to mi...

Tales of a 5th Grade Teacher. Tuesday, June 30, 2009. Lazy, Hazy, Crazy Days of Summer. I have spent more time at the pool this week than I think I did all of last summer! On Sunday night, this lively crew came over for a swim:. Max just chilled and watched a movie. Tales of a 5th Grade Teacher. Friday, June 26, 2009. Just a few things that made me say "Hmm." today:. A man with the greasiest, nastiest mullet I've ever seen running his fingers through his hair dangerously close to the buffet line at Furr's.

Tales of a 5th Grade Teacher: February 2009

http://www.talesofa5thgradeteacher.blogspot.com/2009_02_01_archive.html

Tales of a 5th Grade Teacher. Saturday, February 28, 2009. Yesterday was a tough day. Kids were ready for the weekend and DID not want to do anything related to learning all day. By lunchtime I was dragging and as I slumped into my chair to scarf down my lunch, my cousin Ariel texted to say she was coming up from Weatherford. I was thrilled! And we always find the best deals when we shop together. I'm lucky to have her (and the rest of you, Boones) in my family. Rayven, Ariel, and me. D and Mr. Milt.

Tales of a 5th Grade Teacher. Saturday, May 30, 2009. Jose graduated Friday night! I am so proud of how hard he has worked to get here. He already has a couple of jobs lined up to start next week. We had a great time, graduation was a little long for Max (and me, let's be honest) so we went outside in the lobby and played for awhile. Jose and his mama. The brothers (don't worry, that hand signal just means '09). My favorite eldest child Maricarmen (I promised her that Eduardo wouldn't replace her). He kn...

A farmgirl and a cityboy: February 2010

http://afarmgirlandacityboy.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html

A farmgirl and a cityboy. A blog about their life together. Wednesday, February 24, 2010. The other night I was melting butter for a recipe when I heard a small explosion in the microwave. This is what I found when I opened the door. I have never seen anything like this happen before. The hole was all the way through the cube! Note to self: melt butter in smaller chunks. Mixing the dough with my KitchenAid. Letting the dough rest after man handling it. Belated Valentine's Day post. Is coming this summer!

A farmgirl and a cityboy. A blog about their life together. Tuesday, September 14, 2010. The opposite of word vomit. Would that be dry mouth? Since I have been chastized, not once, not twice, but three times by family in the past three days about the blog I am back. To be honest, I haven't felt like blogging. We've had a lot of good things happen in the past two months. But I didn't feel like writing about it. A quick synopsis of two months. The in-laws came for a visit. September 14, 2010 at 6:36 PM.

And it's not a baby. Sorry, mom. No new grandbaby for you. Just a new sister-in-law for me. Aren't they so cute? Welcome to the family Becca! Wednesday, January 20, 2010. Where has the time gone? Picture taken through the windshield. Shooting through my sunglass, through the windshield. I get bored in the car. Could this picture get any more autumny? Windmill, check. Old barn, check. A farmgirl and a cityboy. A blog about their life together. Monday, August 31, 2009. Things I miss about Oklahoma. I miss you Sonic. There is actually one very close to our house, but it's not the same. There are not Sonics on every corner here. In fact, the one by our house is the only one I've seen here so far. I miss you McAlister's Deli. Your sweet tea could brighten any day. Especially with free refills. Wednesday, August 26, 2009. Precious memories, how they linger. For inspiring me. While I'm ...

http://afarmgirlandacityboy.blogspot.com/2011/07/its-been-long-time-baby.html

A farmgirl and a cityboy. A blog about their life together. Tuesday, July 26, 2011. It's been a long time baby. I could go on and on about how busy I've been since September 27, 2010 and that's why I haven't written on here, but that wouldn't really be true. Let's just say I needed a hiatus. A 10 month hiatus. Maybe I went on a writer's strike like Hollywood did a few years ago. Anyway, lots of things have happened since that fateful September day. Let's recap. I'm sure there are many more things that ha...

A farmgirl and a cityboy. A blog about their life together. Monday, September 20, 2010. Hello adulthood, goodbye Goodwill. As I mentioned, we bought a new table and chairs. I have been wanting a counter height table for ages, but our $10 table from Goodwill was serving it's purpose. And then we found this beauty at a garage sale for $20! Then came the wait for chairs. Thanks to Grandma Poole, we recently received the funds to purchase chairs. Aren't they gorgeous? The best part about the table?

Fat Ass Rising | My Journey from Fat to ?

My Journey from Fat to? To Blog, Or Not To Blog…THAT is the question. It’s been some time since i’ve entered the hallowed internet hall of this blog. During that time i’ve gained and lost weight, and in two days I’m having a type of bariatric surgery called “Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy”. In short, it will limit the amount of food I can eat for the rest of my life, but without the malabsoprtion issues that comes with bypass surgery. What say you interwebs? Tales of a 4th Grade Nothing

Tales of a 4th Grade Nothing. A Job Well Done. February 20, 2015. Today my dad announced his retirement. While it won’t make headlines, his career deserves recognition. He deserves recognition. This is a big deal. My earliest memory of going to visit my dad at work was at a small building with lots of brightly-colored cords plugged into rows of big metal things. What I know now is that it had something to do with talking on the phone. What I knew then is it looked like a lot of fun. When I tell people we...

Tales Of A Baby Catcher

Tales Of A Baby Catcher. Monday, November 19, 2012. It's not Thanksgiving yet. I've joked that I felt cheated out of the month of October, and November seems to be a race. It crossed my mind to post something I'm thankful for every day like those crazy facebookers, but it was just a second and I giggled a little. Recently being thankful was brought to a sobering and heartbreaking reality. A friend and her family are walking a road that we all fear as parents, grandparents, as humans. I appreciate the mess.

Tales of a bad feminist

Tales of a bad feminist. Thursday, 20 February 2014. Gove is a feminist issue. The comedian and actor Robert Webb recently wrote an article for the New Statesman. Which asked if readers could picture Ed Miliband doing something so normal as eating a pear. He concluded he couldn’t. But if Miliband can’t come across as ‘normal’, what does this say about Michael Gove? Lying open beside his plate. Clearly this is about class too, but though Gove’s wasn’t, what is also true is that many of those m...And so al...
