Three Girls and a Brandon: What We've Been Up To
http://bbpalmer.blogspot.com/2012/03/what-weve-been-up-to.html
Three Girls and a Brandon. Wednesday, March 7, 2012. What We've Been Up To. Here's a picture update of the haps from the last few months. In October, my cousin Stacia's little girl had her first birthday party, which we were honored to attend. Evie had fun learning to eat a push-pop. That brought back memories :-). Also in October, Paula had her baby girl, April. Evie was very excited to meet a real, live baby. And scavenged for bugs. Evie also found some resilient weeds and helped me removed them. After...

Speaking of Kids: Reading To Your Kids #2: Try Avoiding the Text
http://speakingofkids.blogspot.com/2013/05/reading-to-your-kids-2-try-avoiding-text.html
Friday, May 17, 2013. Reading To Your Kids #2: Try Avoiding the Text. My son is a little obsessed with Berenstain Bears books right now. They are fun and they teach great morals - but sheesh - sometimes they seem way too long! So sometimes I shorten it up. I'm modeling how to summarize stories for him - so it's a win-win! Masters Program in Library and Information Sciences. One of my favorite books isn't technically wordless. Per se, but it has very limited words and the pictures are so much fun! MLU is ...

Speaking of Kids: ASHA Leader Blurb
http://speakingofkids.blogspot.com/2013/02/asha-leader-blurb.html
Wednesday, February 13, 2013. Imagine my surprise when I discovered that I was mentioned in this month's issue of the ASHA Leader. I've always wanted to be published - now maybe I can cross that off my bucket list. I guess the writers over at ASHA liked my post about the Story Champion Chart. Thanks to Katie at Playing with Words 365. For hosting me on her popular and exceptional blog and allowing me to get a little recognition. 1) Large Symbols (for teaching). Speaking of Kids: July 2013
http://speakingofkids.blogspot.com/2013_07_01_archive.html
Thursday, July 25, 2013. Reading To Your Kids #3: Make Predictions and Inferences. Hi It's me. Sorry for the delay. We have been having a summer full of fun and excitement! For example, we found out we are adding another boy to our family in November! I'm so happy and blessed to be a mom. I get so much joy from watching my children learn and grow - nothing compares! Even being a speech therapist - as much as I love it - doesn't quite bring the same amount of satisfaction. I'm lucky I get to do both!

Speaking of Kids: Why Should I Spend the Money on Private Practice?
http://speakingofkids.blogspot.com/2013/05/why-should-i-spend-money-on-private.html
Wednesday, May 8, 2013. Why Should I Spend the Money on Private Practice? As a parent of a child with a speech or language delay, you probably have a lot of questions about what to do and where to go to receive help. Here are some reasons why the parents who come to Speaking of Kids are especially pleased with their choice of private practice. 1 The child is getting one-on-one attention once or twice a week. 2 They are "in the know". This goes along with number two, but in addition to receiving added inf...

Speaking of Kids: The Ling 6 Sound Test - An Overview
http://speakingofkids.blogspot.com/2012/06/ling-6-sound-test-overview.html
Friday, June 8, 2012. The Ling 6 Sound Test - An Overview. Have you ever heard of the Ling 6 Test? It's a quick listening test devised by Daniel Ling, who was one of the foremost authorities on teaching children with hearing loss how to listen and speak. The 6 refers to 6 speech sounds ranging across the speech spectrum, meaning that the frequencies of these sounds span the audiogram from low to high frequencies, 250 Hz to 2000 Hz. Why is it important? Then as soon as you can, move on to the identificati...
