Winding Thread: September 2014
http://windingthread.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
Sunday, 21 September 2014. My sister turned 70 this year so for her birthday I made a Family Sampler to give her. I used to do lots of cross stitch so I knew it would take a lot of time and I started in Feb. to have it finished by her birthday in July. I used 32 count linen and only sewed in the middle of the day when I could see properly. It took me ages to work out the design; the surnames are blocked out for obvious reasons. It looks much better ironed. Labels: Cross Stitch. Sampler. Tour of Sri Lanka.

Winding Thread: Is It Art
http://windingthread.blogspot.com/2015/01/is-it-art.html
Sunday, 25 January 2015. My lovely husband asked me the other night if his lastest creation is "art". I think his reading glasses look great and it is quite inventive. He dabbles in quirky, or some might say bent, installations. I did a blog about a money tree that I blogged about in Feb. 2012 called the Tree of Life. I don't know how it came to be called that as he always calls it his money tree. However here are some of his works. A shadow. He only draws heads that people his brain. Tour of Sri Lanka.

Winding Thread: Autumn.
http://windingthread.blogspot.com/2015/04/autumn.html
Saturday, 18 April 2015. This month I have picked about 40 saffron flowers, not a huge amount but enough for maybe 2 risottos. They are beautiful flowers and the saffron returns are small; no wonder it is so expensive. Lots different coloured tomatoes and loads of basil. The zuccini are still staggering along. Beautiful berries for breakfast. Nothing nicer than your own produce. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Tour of Sri Lanka. View my complete profile. Simple template. Powered by Blogger.

Winding Thread: June 2014
http://windingthread.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html
Saturday, 7 June 2014. I have finished (nearly) tapestry 3 and I have had some trouble with the design. In the first instance, I had the bell on an angle and it looked awful ; so I pulled it out, changed the angle and wove away. I am thinking of putting a bow on the bell before I take it off the loom. This is the small 10cm X 10cm tapestry I used to distort to get my final image. One of the distortions; not the one I finally used. The design with the bell on an angle. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Winding Thread: Last 2 tapestries.
http://windingthread.blogspot.com/2015/01/last-2-tapestries.html
Saturday, 17 January 2015. Well, the exhibition which I had before Christmas is over as is Christmas, the New Year and the cricket so I had better put up photos of my last 2 tapestries. It represents post Christmas and the strange shapes are like the ghosts of Christmas. Both of these tapestries are app. 40 cm X 40 cm and took about 140 hours each to weave. These are the only 2 tapestries I have left as I gave the other sets to the people who inspired them which pleased me. Labels: Christmas Table Cloth.

Winding Thread: January 2014
http://windingthread.blogspot.com/2014_01_01_archive.html
Sunday, 19 January 2014. The cloth is about 17 years old now and although it is not used every year, it has a wealth of memories. A section of the cloth. At the workshop we had to use the piece of cloth to design a small tapestry and much of the time was spent in sampling and producing a small tapestry. This is my first attempt featuring part of an angel and some lettering. From there I scanned this image and distorted it to get this. The colour is not right here because that's how it came off the printer.
