岡谷市 Okaya-shi: More Karaoke

http://www.tashisan.blogspot.com/2007/07/more-karaoke.html

Saturday, July 07, 2007. In Tokyo it's common to stay out all night in a karaoke place and catch the first train home. In Okaya everything is only 10 minutes walk away so I've never done an all night karaoke until this night. Kate and I had an early bus planned for the next morning but this didn't stop us staying out until after 5am. We set out late after I finished work and arrived around 10:30 and went to a local chain Izakaya that has a couple of rooms with karaoke as well. When Katie came to town.

岡谷市 Okaya-shi: K8, Gem & Tash Karaoke & grafitti evening

http://www.tashisan.blogspot.com/2007/07/k8-gem-tash-karaoke-grafitti-evening.html

Saturday, July 07, 2007. K8, Gem and Tash Karaoke and grafitti evening. We thought we'd just got for an hour or two but we stayed until we got kicked out after several jugs of beer and who knows how many songs. Afterwards we thought it was a really good idea to write our names in the icy windows of the car parked at Family Mart conveni. next day we were feeling guilty and thinking that was not a Japanesy thing to do by any stretch of the imagination. 岡谷市 Okaya-shi: Road trip with Darren Day 6

http://www.tashisan.blogspot.com/2007/05/road-trip-with-darren-day-6.html

Thursday, May 03, 2007. Road trip with Darren Day 6. Today we spent driving around beautiful Ehime-ken. Admiring the stunning coast line and trying to find a place to camp but everywhere we found was full - it was beautiful weather and the whole country was on holidays, so it probably shouldn't have been so surprising. In English. So I asked (in Japanese), "is everything full? He shouts "no, no, no" so I say "ah, there are vacancies? He says "no, no, no" so I say "why are you saying 'no' to everything?

岡谷市 Okaya-shi: Road trip with Darren Day 5

http://www.tashisan.blogspot.com/2007/05/road-trip-with-darren-day-5.html

Wednesday, May 02, 2007. Road trip with Darren Day 5. We got up reasonably early and had a delicious hotel breaky and afterwards wandered to this coffee truck we had found the day before. I must admit, as it says, the coffee from Cafe-Ya was pretty delicious. Another quick photo before heading off on the next part of the journey. We made our way south over yet some more beautiful mountains and eventually found the coast again. We dined gourmet style tonight with camembert and bikkies followed bbq'd sausa...

岡谷市 Okaya-shi: Ashiyu & food...

http://www.tashisan.blogspot.com/2007/07/ashiyu-food.html

Saturday, July 07, 2007. No visit to Okaya is complete without a visit to the ashiyu/foot onsen. Or a visit to the Yaki Niku for some delicious meat, clams and of course beer and plum sake. Maybe the last one is the Korean restaurant? Posted by Tash ナターシャ. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). When Katie came to town. K8, Gem and Tash Karaoke and grafitti evening. The road goes ever on...: July 2006

http://ftaghn.blogspot.com/2006_07_01_archive.html

The road goes ever on. Not all those that wander are lost" - J.R.R. Tolkien. Sunday, July 30, 2006. Alright, I've decided to bite the bullet and do the latest big post full of pics. Fortunately, I've already given the highlights in my original blog (which you can now find in the sidebar, conveniently labeled "My Original Blog"), so this one will be mostly pics. The view from the top. So after a century of remodeling, the place is looking pretty good now, although they're still working on the area behind ...

The road goes ever on. Not all those that wander are lost" - J.R.R. Tolkien. Sunday, October 29, 2006. A Happy Winternights/Samhain/Halloween to one and all! It's taking some getting used to Northern hemisphere seasons/holidays again. This one's a little bittersweet, since one of our first classes, that started back in May at Pre-intermediate level has made it all the way through to Advanced level - it really makes a difference to see that kind of progress, but it's sad to see them go. Dome I wonder if t...

The road goes ever on. Not all those that wander are lost" - J.R.R. Tolkien. Monday, September 11, 2006. Jesus' Grave in Japan! Some funny stuff here. It's almost worth making the trip to Aomori, if it weren't such an obvious tourist trap! Whaddya reckon, should I go and dance on it? Posted by Ia Ftaghn at 7:55 pm. Sunday, September 03, 2006. Ise and neighbouring Toba are fairly pint-sized cities, and everywhere else around there is about as inaka. A closer look at the entrance, nicely framed by some 500...

http://ftaghn.blogspot.com/2006_11_01_archive.html

The road goes ever on. Not all those that wander are lost" - J.R.R. Tolkien. Sunday, November 05, 2006. Last week was one of my shorter work-weeks. I got a day off on Tuesday (the elusive day off between sessions - it seems I only get them now when the month has 31 days! So I made use of it to get my reentry permit - sure, I've got a year's working visa, but I still have to pay an extra 3000yen to be let back into the country - and I thought Australia's $22.00 departure tax was extortion. However, the vi...

The road goes ever on. Not all those that wander are lost" - J.R.R. Tolkien. Sunday, February 18, 2007. Time to pull my finger out and do some writing. First of all, I'd just like to say it was great to catch up with everyone, wander round the old haunts and see that not too much has changed in my abscence. A huge thanks to Rob and Kaoru for letting me crash at their place while they were over here, and I'm glad I had the chance to return the favour when I got back. Specifically, steak night at the Flodge.

The road goes ever on. Not all those that wander are lost" - J.R.R. Tolkien. Monday, April 16, 2007. Surrounded by many more trees, festival stalls, and hanami revellers on blue tarps getting tanked in the sakura snowstorm. Thanks to said stalls, we enjoyed a hearty lunch of takoyaki and steamed pork buns, washed down with vending-machine coffee. Suitably fortified, we went for a wander around, snapping pics all the way. Apparently, this park also has wild monkeys roaming around it that occasionally terr...

The road goes ever on. Not all those that wander are lost" - J.R.R. Tolkien. Sunday, March 25, 2007. The gardens are all trees and moss in that classic style that everybody has seen in all the picture-books. What was particularly interesting here was they had a little display with all the different types of moss they use - with weird names (at least in English) like "Very Important Moss" and "Moss the Interrupter". Complete with a mini-pagoda to keep the local ghosts happy. Here, tucked away in the middl...

http://ftaghn.blogspot.com/2007_05_01_archive.html

The road goes ever on. Not all those that wander are lost" - J.R.R. Tolkien. Thursday, May 31, 2007. Life goes on, and most of it is the same old same old. After Golden Week, it's been back to the familiar drudgery at work, with a few highlights to write home about. First of all, after doing battle with the forces of bureaucracy at Immigration, and doing a few hours of reading in the pews, I've come through relatively unscathed with a new work visa. This time I got the three year one! Sunday, May 06, 2007.

The road goes ever on. Not all those that wander are lost" - J.R.R. Tolkien. Sunday, August 05, 2007. The earth moves under my feet. The long weekend of July 15th was very exciting. My ex-workmate from Lloyds, Tash (check the links section for her blog), finally came to Nagoya after more than a year living in the deepest inaka. Of Nagano prefecture. The main event: Nagoya's annual Sumo Tournament! So, on to the tournament! As well as having a really busy week at work. But anyway, on to the pics. Lunch an...

Tashi Orphan Boarding School | Life at a boarding school for orphaned and underprivileged Tibetan children

Daily Life at TBS. Tashi Orphan Boarding School. Life at a boarding school for orphaned and underprivileged Tibetan children. Welcome to my site about Tashi Orphan School. In December of 2012 I became a volunteer teacher at Tashi Orphan School. The students there are an amazing group of kids and they have changed my life forever. I know I have learned more from them than I could ever teach them. It is my hope that by creating this blog I can convey just how amazing they really are. Enter your comment here.

Tashi's Deep Thoughts

Sharing my thoughts on life. Find me on facebook. Wednesday, August 5, 2015. This post has nothing to do with what Salman Khan is doing, though I absolutely admire him for his endeavour. Nonetheless, it is somehow related in a way to his initiative of being human. And so, I can’t stop wondering, “Do we have to really prostrate, attend Rimpoche’s lectures or chant Baza Guru to gain merits”. BECAUSE. SERIOUSLY. I. AM. CONFUSED. I have met ordinary people who do not have much, who do not own large assets or...
