Tuesday, November 05, 2013. The Google Nexus 5 Nightmare! Yesterday my new 16Gb Nexus 5 arrived from Google. Nearly 5 hours later I finally had it working. First it required a 160Mb update to the Operating system. This went off without a hitch. A good start. I logged in with my Google/Gmail account and it proceeded to restore my settings (My previous phone being a Samsung Galaxy Nexus). Sunday, January 19, 2014. I miss the unpopular Google. I like Google, as a result I adopt early. I was on Google as soon as humanely possible. Immediately I loved it. It's been great, like minded people, great photography and great content from smart people. Over the last year there have been the period pieces showing us that Google is failing to reach the wider intended audience. For Google as a product I accept this is not idea, but for a Google user it's been near perfect but that is changing.

Saturday, November 09, 2013. OK, now that the teething problems are gone. I love my Nexus 5. Yup, a few good days of use now and I'm impressed. 1 the screen is amazing. 2 It's very very fast and responsive. 4 The gripy back, like that on the Nexus 7, is much more useful. 5 Camera - quiet a few reviews moaning about this - So far it seems fine and it a big improvement over the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. 6 Kitkat 4.4 - overall some nice new improvements. 9 No Google Wallet /NFC payments for UK customers yet.

Sunday, October 20, 2013. Garry's Mod,Steam, Nvidia and Windows 8.1 game launches to Blank Screen. So after upgrading from Windows 8 to Windows 8.1 a few days ago there were some teething problems. As the Post heading suggests Garry's Mod and other Half-Life 2 engined games were launching to blank screens. First thing I did was check the integrity of the local game content. This didn't work. I cleared the game config files to make sure there were no rogue gfx display settings. This didn't work.

Sunday, October 20, 2013. F1 2013, Nvidia, Steam and Windows 8.1. Another Windows 8.1 post upgrade issue. When launching F1 2013, from Steam or desktop shortcut I get a "Program Already running" error. Not much on any of the forums or Google search. However the fix seemed to be quite a simple one. It took a 'verify integrity of the game cache' to get it working again. All seems fine, but I think there may be issues with Nvidia and Windows 8.1 too. Sunday, October 20, 2013.
