Caustic Carter: Floaters
http://carterblurb.blogspot.com/2006/11/floaters.html
A corrosively trenchant man who drives a cart. Tuesday, November 28, 2006. On my way into work I walk across the River Thames - between London Waterloo and Embankment. Last week, whilst making this now habitual trek, I saw what turned out to be a human body floating face down the river. Anyhow - I stuck around for a bit too long (to rubber neck) - and morbidly watched the guys down by the pier go out and fetch it/him/her. Then I tootled off to work (now late). Caustic Carter: August 2006
http://carterblurb.blogspot.com/2006_08_01_archive.html
A corrosively trenchant man who drives a cart. Wednesday, August 30, 2006. For the last week or so I have been wandering around central London on my current mission of securing a job at the end of my PhD. This has obviously involved a fair few interviews, and more than a fair share of coffees beforehand to steady the nerves! The good old "toilets are for customers' use only" remarks are quickly thrown back at you by many restaurant owners. So no luck there then. Spending a quick penny? Queues. When y...

MTB Wannabe: S is for...?
http://bikeblurb.blogspot.com/2006/05/s-is-for.html
Random ramblings about fixing up my bike and riding it. . hopefully! Friday, May 26, 2006. As I imagine any MTBer does when he/she/it is in the process of giving their bike a makeover, I came across the issue of which shifting brand(s) to go with. The big two being, of course, Shimano. All the bikes I've previously ridden have been equipped with Shimano of some form or another so I've decided to give SRAM a try. Posted by ugli-stix at 5/26/2006 03:14:00 PM. Links to this post:. MTB Wannabe: Saddle Sore
http://bikeblurb.blogspot.com/2006/05/saddle-sore.html
Random ramblings about fixing up my bike and riding it. . hopefully! Monday, May 29, 2006. Got myself some more parts. Following on from my SRAM decision I've gone and purchased (again from eBay):. SRAM PG980 9 speed cassette. SRAM PC991 9 speed chain. When the shifters turned up they didn't have any cable hosing - so I got myself a Transfil Black Snake Gear Cable set. I guess I'll find out soon enough! Posted by ugli-stix at 5/29/2006 01:20:00 PM. Links to this post:. View my complete profile.

MTB Wannabe: Cable worries
http://bikeblurb.blogspot.com/2006/06/cable-worries.html
Random ramblings about fixing up my bike and riding it. . hopefully! Tuesday, June 06, 2006. Just a follow up on the status of my brakes. The front brake is still useless and I'm still thinking of ideas - currently along the lines of spacing out the disc from the hub far enough to mount the caliper on the outside of the fork mount. On the rear brake issue I've decided to follow some advice from the people down at the MBUK. I'll hopefully be able to secure it to my frame without tacky looking zip-ties.

MTB Wannabe: May 2006
http://bikeblurb.blogspot.com/2006_05_01_archive.html
Random ramblings about fixing up my bike and riding it. . hopefully! Wednesday, May 31, 2006. Well - following yesterday's discovery that the paint job on the Cinder Cone is not very resistant to scratching and chipping, I have done something drastic. I've bought a new frame. Its ok though - its a Kona, but not a Cinder Cone. Its a 2005 Kona Blast. And the forks for free! Oh well - so ends the dream of renovating the old Cinder Cone frame! Caustic Carter: Six Degrees of Separation
http://carterblurb.blogspot.com/2006/10/six-degrees-of-separation.html
A corrosively trenchant man who drives a cart. Wednesday, October 04, 2006. Six Degrees of Separation. Apparently, there's a theory which proposes that everyone is a maximum of only 5 people away from knowing someone else. At the moment its only a theory - which has been tested several times and "shown" to be roughly correct. Posted by ugli-stix at 4.10.06. View my complete profile. That time of year again. Brainiac and its offspring. The root of all wrinkles. Quick - no ones looking!

Caustic Carter: Brain Dead = Dangerous
http://carterblurb.blogspot.com/2007/03/brain-dead-dangerous.html
A corrosively trenchant man who drives a cart. Monday, March 26, 2007. Brain Dead = Dangerous. Every day after work I turn into one of those anally retentive gits on the train who gets up and stands by the train door TWO STOPS before I need to get off. Why? Because everyone who gets off the 18:20 Waterloo to Reading train at the Martin's Heron stop is brain dead. Every single one of them has long since switched off for the day. How do I know this? Caustic Carter: How old is my brain?
http://carterblurb.blogspot.com/2007/04/how-old-is-my-brain.html
A corrosively trenchant man who drives a cart. Monday, April 09, 2007. How old is my brain? Last week I splashed out a little and bought myself a Nintendo DS Lite. As always, once I had made the decision to buy one, I was impatient to get my hands on it. and ended up going from shop to shop to try and find somewhere that had a non-pink version in stock. No such luck though - I ended up having to order from Amazon to get my iPod-inspired white DS Lite. I've been using it for four days in a row now. On...
