This One Goes to 11. With a nod to Spinal Tap, just some thoughts about pushing the limits. Monday, October 22, 2012. There may be no "I" in "team," but there is a "me". I've been thinking about team dynamics as of late. At this moment, it's playoff season for Major League Baseball, and there is all kinds of focus on teamwork. This week also marks the end of our first quarter, and I'm reflecting on what that whole team thing means in education. Cc photo courtesy of Keith Allison. Does the social nature o...

This One Goes to 11. With a nod to Spinal Tap, just some thoughts about pushing the limits. Monday, April 29, 2013. PBL Idea: Using WeVideo in the Social Studies Classroom. After quite a bit of brainstorming, discussion, and collaborating, our group (which was comprised of the librarians, the World Geo teachers, and myself) landed on having the students create a short newscast using WeVideo. The World Geo teachers solidified the essential questions for the project: given the various aspects or themes of ...

This One Goes to 11. With a nod to Spinal Tap, just some thoughts about pushing the limits. Tuesday, May 13, 2014. Online Assessments: Embedding Google Presentations into Schoology. This post originally appeared in the CCSD Tech Tips Blog. And has been adapted for non-district readers. Here in Colorado, April marked the beginning of online testing (our statewide tests were given electronically in science and social studies for grades 4, 5, 7, and 8). One question we got asked in t. This One Goes to 11: Reflecting on Connecting at #SchoologyNEXT

This One Goes to 11. With a nod to Spinal Tap, just some thoughts about pushing the limits. Saturday, July 25, 2015. Reflecting on Connecting at #SchoologyNEXT. Having just returned from Schoology's NEXT conference, I have a lot of things swirling around in my head. After making a vow to myself earlier this summer to be better about reflecting and writing, I might as well actually do something about it. So, here it goes . . . Here are a few things that I think made this possible. Some blogs I check out.

This One Goes to 11. With a nod to Spinal Tap, just some thoughts about pushing the limits. Tuesday, February 5, 2013. In our current Chromebook testing phase, we are also exploring what the management console offers. I've had experience managing machines with both Open Directory and Active Directory, so I had questions about what we could manage, especially in regards to online testing. Here are our early. Impressions of the management console as it relates to Chromebooks. Like other settings in the Goo...

This One Goes to 11. With a nod to Spinal Tap, just some thoughts about pushing the limits. Sunday, September 23, 2012. Our first district-wide meetings (with both technology coordinators K-12 and building technicians) last week got me thinking about first impressions. For some folks who were new to the meeting or group, I wonder what they thought as they left? What were their first impressions? Having a way to share announcements that don't require a meeting helped us focus on "real" conversations. ...

This One Goes to 11. With a nod to Spinal Tap, just some thoughts about pushing the limits. Wednesday, October 8, 2014. Do the math on paper. We're got a problem in our district. Thanks to voter approval of a 2012 bond, we've been able to get close to a 2:1 student to Chromebook ratio in our schools (technically, it will be a 2.1:1 ratio in grades 1-5 starting this month). So what's the problem? People now want more. And they want to know what will happen when the bond expires. Cc photo courtesy of Ray.

This One Goes to 11. With a nod to Spinal Tap, just some thoughts about pushing the limits. Sunday, July 15, 2012. What do we REALLY want them to know? I've been thinking (as I usually do around this time) about the beginning of the school year, and that means starting PLC work across the district and at our various buildings. We are still supposed to be focusing on DuFour's. All students should know how they learn. In our district, we are (of course) having conversations about the Common Core, but I thi...
