This is my Brain on Media. Thursday, February 12, 2009. Revisiting NATPE–Ben Silverman on Change Part 1. To me, the title of this posting seems almost ironic. Last semester…which really was only about 4 short months ago…we were discussing NBC’s Ben Silverman in my Electronic Media Programming class. Where the prediction seemed to be that Silverman’s job wouldn’t last the calendar year of 2008. But, at NATPE 2009 Silverman was being honored with a Brandon Tartikoff Legacy Award. The Audio Prof: Change makes me antsy

http://theaudioprof.blogspot.com/2008/12/change-makes-me-antsy.html

This is my Brain on Media. Monday, December 29, 2008. Change makes me antsy. So, yesterday I called your attention to the Communication and Cognition. Blog, now in its new form. Sam Bradley, the C&C blog author, and I have been emailing back and forth as I pick his brain about his recent transition to using WordPress. To publish his blog rather than blogger. I have known about WordPress for sometime now. My first introduction to it was through friends of our family who publish blogschmog. But, compare th...

The Audio Prof: Congratulations to two IU T'comm Alumni

http://theaudioprof.blogspot.com/2008/12/congratulations-to-two-iu-tcomm-alumni.html

This is my Brain on Media. Sunday, December 28, 2008. Congratulations to two IU T'comm Alumni. Yes, Yes, Yes, it's been more than one month since my last posting. I have no real excuse.other than perhaps trying to wrap up a busy semester. Get all the loose ends tied up before going away on my first true vacation in almost 15 years. And, you'll realize why I didn't blog from vacation when you see what else I had to stare at besides a computer screen:. This was the view from my lounge chair at Secrets Capri.

The Audio Prof: Great Alumni bring Knowledge to Current Students

http://theaudioprof.blogspot.com/2007/11/great-alumni-bring-knowledge-to-current.html

This is my Brain on Media. Friday, November 16, 2007. Great Alumni bring Knowledge to Current Students. One of the reasons that I love working at IU is that we have great alumni. In fact, the IU Alumni Association. Boasts of being the largest in the world…. And, luckily, the alumni from the IU Department of Telecommunications. It started with a visit from Mark DeBoskey who is the General Manager of Jazz 88.3 in San Diego. Later that day Norbert Mundorf. Now, my alumni experiences continued this week when...

The Audio Prof: Mommy, it's Saturday, can we watch an infomercial

http://theaudioprof.blogspot.com/2008/11/mommy-its-saturday-can-we-watch.html

This is my Brain on Media. Tuesday, November 25, 2008. Mommy, it's Saturday, can we watch an infomercial. Those of you who are like me can remember how much you liked Saturdays.what my kids now affectionately refer to as one of the "stay at home days.". One of the great things about Saturdays was flopping down in front of morning cartoons while eating Honey Comb cereal right outta the box. Those days are over. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). The Comm and Gender Spot: February 2006

The Comm and Gender Spot. Sunday, February 26, 2006. It’s now complete. The 20th Winter Olympic Games in Turin, Italy. The Closing Ceremonies was a mix of tradition, fun, and a bit of the surreal. We had the march in of the athletes. We had a tribute to the Olympic flag. We also had the passing of the Olympic flag. From the mayor of Turin. To the mayor of Vancouver, Canada. And pop singer Avril Lavigne. And did I mention tribute to Fellini. And then on to Vancouver in 2010. Giorgio Di Centa ( Italy.

Think about the demographics of those HH - elderly, poor, etc.Now think about current television programming. Any new shows targeted to the elderly or the poor? Definitely feeling cynical. Apparently, the White House would go for the delay. Are you in favor or not? Monday, February 02, 2009. Just thinking abo...

Todd and the Blog: Cancer Takes Another

http://toddandtheblog.blogspot.com/2009/07/cancer-takes-another.html

Todd and the Blog. Saturday, July 18, 2009. It's 2009. As we (and trust me, I do worry about things such as "swine flu") worry about all flus, viruses, and other dreadful diseases, we need to ask ourselves - WHY HASN'T A CURE BEEN FOUND? Somy question is this - have we just reached the stage that it just doesn't bother us anymore? My prayer is that you never hear those words: you have cancer. At this moment, please keep the Griffin family in your prayers. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Todd and the Blog. Friday, April 13, 2012. Well, I'm not very proud.may even be humiliated. So, about to talk to students about the importance of blogging and social media. Heh heh heh. It may be one of those 'do as I say, not as I do' moments. Oh well. Yes, it is very important to learn the process of blogging and why it is important. But, this is one of those amazing days that we get to discuss the power of media - especially consumer controlled media. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Actually, I don't feel too terribly bad because I've talked to a few others who have done the same - and not posted. It's spring break and that means one thing for me in the past few years (actually forever it seems) and there isn't a vacation, just trying to play catch up with work. http://toddandtheblog.blogspot.com/2009_12_01_archive.html

Todd and the Blog. Thursday, December 24, 2009. Time is a curious matter. When I "think" about the days of my grandparents and their parents, I "think" they had more time on their hands. My perception of that time has always been one of curiosity. Most of my assumptions were - "wow, did they get bored? But I think the reality is - I wish my family didn't have the schedule we do. Todd and the Blog. Sunday, March 29, 2009. But, there is HOPE. Relay For Life has been around 25 years and has raised b i l l i o n s of dollars that go into the fight against cancer through research, patient services, advocacy and outreach. When I really wasn't sure that I would live to see her walk into her first day of kindergarten. I know what it felt like when just a couple of months ago my now 9-year old asked: "Daddy, will I ever get cancer? Monday, March 02, 2009. Relay For Life 2009.
