The bus was stopped and Brian's bag was searched but apart from that we had little hassle. First stop in Ecuador was Otavalo, a small town famous for it's craft market. A hot drink made of corn with raisins and spices, tastes just like creamed rice. Brian unfortunately got served up some very pink chicken which he had to sneak into the bin. Ramblings - part one. Thursday, October 7, 2010. Ecuador - Zumbahua and Laguna Quilatoa. Next stop after Quito was Zumbahua, a tiny village in the central highlands. The bus we got up the bumpy tracks from the nearest town, Latacunga, was really great; decorated with red velvet curtains and nearly completely full of indigenous locals in their traditional dress speaking Quechua. These were some of the most beautiful and friendly people we had met. See how tall Brian is. Chips, salsa, mayonnaise and egg.

We visited an indigenous village a couple of hours downstream the next morning and one of the women in the village showed us how to make a kind of jungle pizza bread from manioc root.
